Quote for a replacement condenser

Featured Replies

My 2008 VRS has a leaking condenser. I have been quoted 260.00 +VAT for a replacement one to be supplied and fitted by a local independant AC specialist.

Any thoughts if this is about right?

Thanks

An after market condenser is about £60 and a OE valeo is about £90, non trade prices. I don't know about the petrol vrs but mine needs done on my diesel vrs and you can pull all the rads out in a one from the engine bay side. Not sure if it can be done on the petrol. Most people tent to remove the front end. Ask what condenser they are going to use.

Circa £60 for replacement condenser, £45-£70 for system clean and regas, the rest on labour. Bumper off, condenser off, condenser on, system clean, regas, leak checks, check of operation, bumper on. 2 hours max for a pro.

When I did mine (2007 Scout) a number of the fittings were difficult to remove or snapped due to corrosion - no chance of doing it in 2 hours. Pro is going to allow time for such issues.

RH lower condensor fitting is not accessible without removing bumper reinforcement and then the coolant pack frame had to be loosened to get the condenser out so quite a bit of unexpected work.

Had mine down a month ago. Condenser £80, Labour 3 hrs £135 and regass £45. Prices all Inc vat so total of £260
