Tyre's for my vRS

7000 miles done now in 9  months and I need new front tyres

there almost down to the limit mark..

Not good news, should get 10,000 at least..!!

What are you others finding wear...???

And what brand of tyres are you  replacing with...??

that sound good.. .. i have a look at goodyear.. i don't want to spend mega money if i need to replace them in another 9 months

Watch black circle. I got efficient grips at £100 or so fitted. One is in store, one on the spare so not sure of vrs life, but in 10k on my old Mondeo (not sporty, but a 2 litre petrol) they hardly wore at all.

Not a VRS I know, but I just shoved some Avon ZZ5 tyres on the missus car and they are excellent and - very important in an Octy - quiet!!

Not vRS but 150CR Eleg riding on 18" Golus so exact same size tyres as vRS, currently on 33k 17 months old and fronts still with 4mm tread, they are Dunlop Sport Maxx GT, might not be best for grip but I can certainly vouch for their longevity! 70% motorway mileage so easy on the tyres, but can't believe they are still no where near the wear indicators, reckon they will do over 40k, the rears are also still like new!

As others have said

 

Michelin PS3's

Goodyear F1's

Conti CS5's

 

Are the 3 tyres to get. If you're after more "touring tyre" then a step down in the same brands for each should get you a decent result. If you keep pressures up, a set of PS3's should last 18.5-20K miles. I'd sacrifice longevity for the excellent grip, ride and noise they have,

Seconding and thirding the Eagle F1's and PS3's.

Used them both heavily on Scoobaru's and Audi's and worked well for me.

The price point for F1's was a decider for me at the start of the year so bought four for the Audi. If they continue to be cheaper than PS3's I'll be replacing my vRS tyres on all four corners with those when the time comes.

Mine are nearly ready for changing,8500 miles,i always change them about 500 miles after they reach the wear indicator as they can make the car twitchy in the wet,think il get pirreli p zero,just put them on my mrs' montecarlo, and I have the older version on my rs1600i escort, a good combi tyre for wet dry and for milage

I had a good look around the interweb and desided to go for Goodyear Eagle F1 as the reviews are good...

fitted price £101 each at F1autocentres.co.uk

Bridgstone Potenzas (or whatever they call them)!

I got loads of wear out of them on a Mk5 Golf GT TDi withh 211bhp and they really tested the tyre fitters as they were incredibly tight to fit onto the rim. 45mins each tyre and you could tell as the car didn't squrim around anywhere near as much as it had done on the SC2&3 and a Verdistein. The last one there was a good tyre but life was only a little better than SC's at 12,000 miles.

I had them on my 120d and they were awesome - and my vRS turned up with them on too, which pleased me greatly.  So much grip, even in the wet, and last for bloody ages.  I did 34k miles in the BMW, and it had the rear tyres changed at about 24k (they would have lasted a bit longer, but a puncture in one forced the change), and the fronts were still going strong with 3-4mm tread left when it went back to the lease company.  I'm hoping the ones fitted to the vRS will have the same longevity.

Personal favourite is the Michelin Pilot Sport, as I reckon that's the best in the wet (seemed important for fat tyres on a relatively light car). Also, according to tyre fitter the choice of Hampshire police in their vRS'es, so hopefully a considered choice by them.

 

My least favourite were Dunlop Sport Maxx that felt sketchy, like they were about to aquaplane on fast a roads during heavy rain. Never felt that on the Michelins...

 

And the Conti's were OK, just a bit noisy, but I understand they are replaced now.

My front Continentals lasted just over 9,000 miles.  I replaced them with the Goodyear Eagle F1's that won Evo's 2013 tyre test and they're much better.  They grip better in both wet and dry and they have reduced scrabble, especially in the wet.

What are you doing man?!  7,000 miles and needing new tyres?  Just rolled passed 11k and still on 5mm of tread, so should go to 20k-odd.

 

I know that Lingfield road is bumpy but 7,000 miles....!!
