Replace Inner Door Seal

Featured Replies

Has anyone replaced the inner door seal/rubber gasket? I don't know why but I've got it in my head it's one of those PITA jobs that's never too successful because the new seal never sticks or fits quite right. Does it slot on or is it glued? Is it a PITA?

(Before anyone helpfully points me in the direction of leaking door cards it's definitely the door rubber that needs replacing, I thought it would be a good idea to lock my keys in the boot whilst 70 miles from home & in attempting to get in to the car the AA man sliced through the drivers door inner seal.)

They are simply pushed onto a flange and just pull off. They can be a bit tight to move at first but once you get it started it will be easy. A rubber mallet is handy for tapping them back in place. Some interior trim will probably need removing in order to get to them properly.

I was feeling hopeful up until you said some interior trim probably needs removing. :(

Do the seals go back on ok, especially in the corners?

Not a job I really want to do but my temporary fix is starting to fail in heavy rain and there's no hiding the split.

They are easy to fit. Start at the top of the door opening and work your way down and push it into the corners. You might be able to get away without removing trim, I'm not sure as I haven't had to do it on mine.
