325bhp & 368flbt - WOW, many thanks to Superchips!

Featured Replies

Congratulations! I think you'll have to work hard to have the level of grip needed to put down all of that torque and power!

Awesome....betting it will be a bit of a handful in anything other than bone dry conditions though...cant see the esp or open diff/XDS dealing particularly well with another 80hp and shedloads of torque.

Id enjoy that though, like a car thats a bit of an animal id be buying new tyres every few k!

Watching with interest!

I presume its sub 6 seconds?

That's a nice result! Bet you are pleased with that. An 80 Bhp gain is not to be sniffed at.

Was it an ECU-out job for the remap or could they do it via the OBD port? How much did it cost?

Sounds like the dyno is over-optimistic (as a lot are) by 25bhp if stock was reading that high so I suspect it's putting out closer to 300bhp but even so good stuff! :-)

So, Quaife, wavetrac, peloquin, or another brand of diff? Your going to need something to help with grip!

Thanks guys.

Putting power down will of course be fun in the wet, however the map isn't aggressive and works really well across the entire rev range so once I'm used to this, I reckon I'll be able to use most of the power most of the time.  :D

Decent tyres help, however an LSD would be better, will have to wait and see.

The mp was done through the OBD port, however they are trying to work towards a bluefin device at some stage,...

As for dyno being optimistic, there is no way my car was running 220bhp as stock, definitely 240bhp+ easily which is that they achieved on the rollers.

Either way, in gear and 0-60/100mph this is a really quick car and I would guess it's easily kicking out 300bhp+ so more than happy with that once you bolt on all that torque  :D  :D  :D

I think the map will cost just under £400 so reckon a bit of a steal at that price!!

Will report back once a bit more mileage is on the car with the necessary pics/vid and write up,..

Sounds very interesting, I'm looking forward to hearing how you find it in everyday driving and any plots they did. Rather than the raw numbers, it is useful to see the smoothness of the curves and where the gains are.

Well done for going for it and sharing your experience. If their price is around mid £300 mark, I think they may have a few customers.

Over 240 stock bhp? - surprised!

325bhp after remap? SHOCKED! Are there supporting upgrades like aftermarket intake and exhaust? How about turbo-lag, has appeared any?

Also interested in MPG :)

Have to agree Tom, I am also a little sceptical that the 2.0 TSi 220 would run another 25hp in standard form. I havent driven one but I suspect they feel a bit quicker than they actually are because of the diesel-like levels of torque the new motor outputs.

Still an 80hp increase (which would mean bare minimun its knocking on the door or at 300hp) is v impressive for a map.

I think a GTI PP with such a map would be pretty awesome; I think id possibly favour it over a standard Golf R.

Seriously, you want 325BHP, no turbo-lag and good fuel economy ?

Dunno about Vilnius I personally think your living in cloud cuckoo land (although, I gotta say Galaxy was the most memorable part of the whole Stag weekend last summer)

No offense intended just feel a little realism is required.

I guess Widzia was just asking about MPG, with the smiley, not pretending good fuel economy.

Now, I'll go back to my derv world...

Holy moly!! 325bhp from just a remap!! Makes me regret getting a diesel!! Must be a very detuned engine!!

Try following the link I posted above. Two separate cars on two different dynos putting out approx the same power. Oh and the company that supplies exhausts to BTCC winning car all saying the same thing!

But then again as you say, you haven't driven one.

245bhp stock, yep, tested on two dynos and 0-60 sprint times that were verified by GPS seem to support a car with 245bhp.

Lots of aftermarket stuff on the way to help improve things further.

Turbo lag, didn't really have it before to be honest, however the car has so much torque now it's even easier to drive. To be honest it gets to 100mph so quick now I'll have to watch out for my driving licence.

MPG, well when I was blasting my way back from having it mapped, I still managed 33 mpg, how I did I do not know with the speed I was carrying. I also took the car for a quieter drive for about 100 miles today and managed 39mpg over dual carriage ways.  :D  :D  :D

The 'stock' figure isn't that relevant as a lot of dynos over-read. It's the gains over whatever a particular dyno gives as stock is what is interesting.

How do the 0-60 times indicate the car has 245bhp?

Not the dyno's I use  :D

As for 0-60 times indicate the car has 245bhp (verified by Vbox gps), the car weighs 1370kg, you do the math  :D

Trust me I can compare the car to many high powered cars I've owned before and it is giving more than 220.

Did your insurance go up by much?

Power to weight ratio is not the only factor needed to determine 0-60 speed. Likewise comparing 0-60's with weight will not provide accurate estimation of power.

Other factors such as gear ratios, traction, drag, driver weight, atmospheric conditions, drivetrain loss etc all have influence. Two cars of equal weight and power can feel considerably different in terms of power delivery and performance. IMO the VRS feels faster than 220PS because it has so much mid range torque. At the top end of the rev range it feels a bit flat, and this is where peak PS/BHP tends to occur.

It is interesting that the Dyno in Derby is over-reading by the same amount as the Dyno in Bournemouth!!!

^This :-)

Estimating power from a kerb weight in the brochure and a v-box 0-60 time is going to be pretty inaccurate I would have thought.

Telling me to do the math isn't really answering my question lol.

My point is that the stock figure doesn't matter. Is it that dyno's are over-reading or manufacturers are overly conservative with their figures? Who cares. It's the gains you get from tuning and how that feels on the road which is important. Unless of course bragging down the pub or on the internet is more important :-)

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to be negative or have a pop at you. I think modding cars is great and I'm pleased you've had such a good result on the remap.

themanwithnoaim, see comment below ;) The reason I am asking this is that one of my mates remapped his GTI MK5 Pirelli to 300bhp and got 32mpg (avg), which is great IMHO.

Very reasonable economy I should say.
