Polo GTI some details

Featured Replies

My Polo R-Line is now in the UK, could be ready for collection as early as next week, unfortunately I have 4 driving tests booked between now and the end of July and the earliest I can get dual controls fitted is Friday 3rd August :-(

The GTi+ is due in Germany mid July so I am hoping that might get over to the UK quickly and I can collect both cars together, probably going to be a week apart though.

Once I have them I'll post up some pics :-)

Hi all   Gave the Polo a quick single wash yesterday - don't want to do too much work as I have the car being detailed next week and want to leave the paintwork as untreated as possible until then.

Mate, when your previous car was a 60bhp Citigo, believe me the Polo GTI is "blistering"

The GTi+ has apparently landed in the UK and booked on a transporter, fingers crossed it might actually arrive at the dealer on Tuesday, now I'm REALLY excited :-D

The biggest issue I have with VW is the fact they use the same "R" logo on the R line as they do on thier sportier model.

With all thier money you would think they would have come up with something different for them. I see so many R line Golf's and for second or two think they are Golf R's until I look at the lower side front grills or wing mirrors etc

And they even stitch the same R into the upholstery. You don't see Ford Focus's with RS all over them unless they are an RS.

Nice looking motor by they way :)

Ben, enjoy your Golf R,  you know it's real. Original v pretend why worry ,when you have the real thing.

Not worried about who has the real thing; the point I was making, is just find it very peculiar, that they choose to use the same logo or very similar logo for two very different types of model.

They use the "R" logo across the whole VW model range on the front grill :)

The R line is similar to Ghia as ford used (showing my age now) and the R is the equivalent to the RS....... Using Ford as an example.

Just a quickie for you.

They're all at it though, and yes I think it's daft and annoying too :)

Ford have ST and ST-line. Mercedes have 'AMG line' and BMW throw the 'M' badge on everything.

They're all perfectly capable of branding stuff in a better way. But they choose to do this for sales I'd guess - so people who can't afford the real deal can pretend... ;)

Good morning all

I am very happy with the 15 miles covered so far, only niggle is front right tpms sensor is on, pressure is fine, held overnight, hopefully just a quick fix

Thank you :) Car has now been fitted with dual controls and detailed.

Drives really nice, smooth and powerful yet calm in town, DSG is a fantastic gearbox.

Only 3 niggles....

1. TPMS on front right is on although it's holding pressure, hopefully a simple fix

2. Small scratch on inside of windscreen which was only noticeable because it had a dark background, the detailer has polished it and it's now less noticeable

3. Detailer found a scuff on the rear bumper low down, about 15 mm long and 3mm wide which has gone through the top coat. I'm hoping the dealer has a touch-up or can arrange a smart repair, it looks like a chafe so possibly from transportation.

My friend Andrew's brief driving review of the Polo GTi

My missus has just placed an order for a new mk6 Polo GTi similar to,the spec in video described by the salesman. However, one negative the delivery lead time is currently 50weeks ( my gut feel is that production output will improve and shorten this) Purchased via Orangewheels discounters and against her high spec got £2800 off. So all in all pretty pleased with her deal. I would have spec'd a manual as they are due for release in coming month but can't be spec'd currently. However, my other half has always liked the DSG and by all accounts the 6speed will be better suited with the 2.0L motor.

^^^ They come with manual or auto like the MINI or BMW do which is something that other 'Top Hot hatches' do not from Ford, Honda, Toyota or Renault (Unless the Clio)

so it will be up there among the Top Hot Hatches on somepeople lists. If VW keep selling them at Loss Leader prices then they are a performance bargain.

Still waiting to see a review of a manual , as currently manuals not available in UK ,not sure where they are available yet.

New orders are currently at 40 plus weeks delivery lead-time.
