Upsolute or Revotechnik

Featured Replies

Ironically, I was given the hard sell for Revo..............

At the time, REVO was the best generic remap product on the market...

That's why I had it (and jumped ship when a better product came out  )

I wasn't questioning the way it drove' date=' or the cost of his remap, or the rollers for that matter!

I was just interested in the "figures".

I've never heard of a car making that power from such low boost. IP must really be at the forefront of chip tuning.

I'll stick to C-C for now though, thanks all the same. :)[/quote']

It was not aimed at you as such, but the post above yours, made just one comment.

"If the rollers were accurate"

Yes, I agree the figures are good for a low boost map, and even the Greek chap from Regal remarked on how good they were, asking who had done the map and even telling me to get it lifted to 1.2Bar as there is a lot more potential to use. He had maps, plots, graphs, pictures etc on his laptop that would blow your brain.

I honestly think he has forgotten more aboput tuning VAG cars then we would ever learn.

I can't find any info on IP Remaps on their website... Am I not looking hard enough?

Do they still use Upsolute?

These equall length manifolds were something else and the bloke makes them himself. Oh well something else for the tuners over here to put their stickers on and call it their own.

Josh,

That web site sucks doesn't it.

I don't think they still us Upsolute but in their defence, about 3 years ago they tuned my Black Octy vRS with an Upsolute chip (which I had no problems with) it made 250bhp and 263ft/lb on Stealth's rollers in front of a big crowd. IP have come on just a tad since then and whilst they still use Upsolute they have developed an OBD upload remap (which Gerry runs). This is with hand on heart I say you will never meet another more genuine guy as Mike at IP, there is no BS, hard sell and he always has time for you no matter how busy he is. I cannot say that about any other tuner I have dealt with.

I can only echo, the above comments about Mike at IP, I have already said this about him in other threads, the guy is totally genuine, and would turn work away and lose the money if he did not think the work was right for your car, and would damage it.

How many companies would do that??????

I have fallen foul to that one and they have all my money. I should have let Mike do the work and not listened to the BS!!!!

Its very strange you didnt if you think that much of IP and Mike.

Gary,

Not a dig at you.....Just a question??

Having looked you engine specs on your site, can I please ask if your stage 2 map is the one that costs £650 plus vat and gives just 239BHP ?????????

Only a question????????????????????????

As I said before Mike dosen't do the hard sell thing. I pity anyone who falls into the same trap.

I don't take that as a dig Gerry.

Yes thats it but look at where the power is made - I also make 0.9bar of boost where you make 0.6bar.

Torque is also excellent and better than any other remap I have personally seen.

Also ~240bhp is pretty much the limit on the K03sport turbo so don't kid yourself when you see 250bhp plots.

Does your budget map make power like that? (again, not a dig).

Anyway, back to the topic of this thread.

At this moment in time I would go to IP over Revo as their upload mapping is second to none given cost and seat of pants dyno.

What a load of rubbish.

If you knew you needed a job doing then why didnt you get it done at your tried and tested IP?

The map was loaded via the serial port and has not been adjusted since it was loaded, it was put on with just a 1bar to test it on my car, lets see what it does at 1.2bar, torque wise.

Gary, have just looked at your graphs and perhaps I am getting too old, but I cannot see the boost/bar figure on any of them, they just seem to show the BHP and Torque figures.

This thread is getting better. think of the war years.

"CARELESS TORQUE COSTS LIVES".......................Sorry, could not resist it.

What a load of rubbish.

Maybe it's all a dream and I will wake up tomorrow with all my money back in my wallet. Try to get a grip, I am only human and I made a mistake, I admit it. Oh and for the record there was nothing wrong with the gearbox I had so I was not desperate, just wanted to get it right. Did well there didn't I.

PMSL  I like that!!

The only thing that seems to be mentioned here is boost. Now, boost alone is only one factor in the tuning game. You also have AFR and timing to consider as all three factors affect the performance. And yes it is possible to run only 1 bar and have more power than someone running 1.2 bar because the more boost you run the hotter the charge temps, to the extent that the power and torque may be adversely affected by this. It is all in the mapping at the end of the day, and it's no good simply using boost as a comparison between maps. Performance is the best way to compare maps from a tuning point of view.

Adam.

Adam,

The Lambda was mentioned on mine yesterday by the Greek chap doing the RR day. Mine started at -1.0 on the left hand side of the graph and finished at between the 0-.7 and -0.8, on the right hand side of the graph.

What ever that means???????????? .He said it was very good.

Sory cannot put the graph up as scanner is "Donald Ducked"

0.85-0.95 Lambda is where you should be for maximum power.

You must be running quite rich.

Read this, its quite interesting http://forums.audiworld.com/vag/msgs/456.phtml

Cheers Gaz, he seemed to think it was ok, but mentioned a change of the NJ75 valve to another letter (J) I think, might make a slight difference.

Still get 46mpg at 70+ish mph.

No problem.

You didnt mention you had a diesel!!

How the hell do you get 46mpg out of a vRS?? I must take my lead boots off!!

N75J will request more low down boost but tail off quicker than your N75F, thats what I experienced anyway.

I had more low down torque but it made less power higher up so swapped back the the F.

This little experiemnt was on Revo which is specifically written around the stock F valve though.

Gary,

The answer the this one is easy:-

Go to Impossible Performance and get one of the "CHEAP" maps :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I'd sooner go faster than conserve fuel :D

I do both.................................................

Is your 46mpg read off the MFA, or done through filling your tank, doing a certain number of miles, then refilling your tank and working out the MPG through the two figures?

I'm only asking this, because the MFA can mis-read with some cheap remaps ;)
