Upsolute or Revotechnik

Featured Replies

Is your 46mpg read off the MFA' date=' or done through filling your tank, doing a certain number of miles, then refilling your tank and working out the MPG through the two figures?

I'm only asking this, because the MFA can mis-read with some cheap remaps ;)[/quote']

Josh,

I do mine both ways via mileage against gallons and computer. Seems to work out near enough both ways.

Frightens me when I have the computer on and showing the mpg when you boot it..............Down to 11mpg when accelerating well into three figures.

Litres to gall divide by 4.5461 to get gall..Easy

Very good.

I just can't figure it out in my head though.

Less Boost

Less Fuel

More BHP

Maybe timing is very advanced?

Or maybe IP have found some secret area of the ECU that says "generate power from the sun, wind and ocean's waves"?

:)

Perhaps they should change their name to "Enigma Performance", Josh, it is a mystery to me how they do it, but it works.

I know people get a bit touchy with certain claims etc,and this I can understand, but this one really does work, yes, it surprises me how they do it.

In answer to your suggestion re the waves etc, I do think you could harness the Tsunami to beat it.........................LOL

It can't be less fuel though as he said he is running 0.7-0.8 Lambda which is quite rich but he see's 46mpg at over 70mph, even stock 1.8T's won't see that

Gerry, have you got a FMIC?

What fuel do you use? Octane boosters?

Yes to the FMIC, I have theABD Racing one from guess where, yes, your right, Impossible Performance, fantastic FMIC that works and takes virtually no boost from the engine.

Fuel is always Tesco 99RON. No boosters just the fuel as stated.

Also got the oversize TIP from, yes youve guessed it. ABD Racing at IP.

Also CAI, from FleaBay......................................£39 delivered, and do not laugh, those who saw it yesterday could not believe how they do it for the money. Nor can I.

Re the MPG, ask Des AKA Delcac for his figures, I know you will be surprised.

You could be running very advanced timing then due to low boost (less heat), FMIC and high octane fuel.

Also got the full Blueflame system, downpipe, sports cat etc. Oh and a very nice smelling air freshener in the car.

Gerry - I told you yesterday - don't forget to mention the stickers + the ARB! :P

Bitch,

I told you the stickers were a trade tuning secret, now they will all want them.

Well, here's several reasons -

1. Less boost = less heat. Less heat = denser air

2. Less boost = less heat. Less heat = less likelyhood of knock

3. Less boost = less heat. Less heat = less fuel required for cylinder cooling

Adam.

Over the last week I have been running the car in with a mixture of Motorway and town driving and have covered well over 1K miles. On the first tank full of Tesco's 99Ron I managed 492 miles and did not empty the tank. That was on the trip comp.

PS This is at a steady 70-80mph on the Motorway.

Well. Must say this is a very interesting read. Keep it up

Why don't you guys just swallow your pride and accept that there may be another tuner on this (tiny) planet that may actually be able to get more powerful, more economical, less engine stresful result out of a car post tuning than JBS!

Sorry, can't accept that.

I don't think they still us Upsolute.........
Anyway' date=' back to the topic of this thread.

At this moment in time I would go to IP over Revo as their upload mapping is second to none given cost and seat of pants dyno.[/quote']

The topic of the thread is "Upsolute or Revo" you've said yourself that IP don't use Upsolute so are you gonna go back onto the topic of the thread or keep talking about IP?

I'd be glad to see you continuing posting about IP as it's quite interesting, just find it strange that you've contradicted yourself like that.

BTW do you still very much doubt that the post earlier in this thread was actually from Guy or are you still waiting for him to confirm the secret magic word?

Yes, but if you have fueling right, timing right and sufficient cooling then the only way to more power without component changes is to up the boost.

My car has been logged and and setup on the road and all the above are spot on. Running the K03s pretty much maxxed out I was seeing maximum intake temps of only 30*C in the summer. These were peaks when the car was at a standstill after WOT run.

There's little point fitting an FMIC if you're only gonna run 1bar of boost as the pressure drop across the FMIC is actually gonna reduce power compared to an SMIC. The point of an FMIC is to be able to run more boost without compromising on intake temperatures.

this is making interesting reading :)

can't use the forum tools yet!! doh.

It certainly is

I'm finally biting the bullet and remapping my 02 Octy VRS.

Jabba are to far for me to travel to be honest' date=' and I have Upsolute and Revotechnik dealers within striking distance.

I was wondering what recent experiences people have had with both. I've spoken to Leon owning friends who rave about both. I am also tempted by Revos free 5 hour play, I know there were problems a couple of years back, but again would appreciate feedback.

180bhp will soon be a thing of the past!!!!![/quote']

Hurry up and decide, the handbags are coming out.

I thank you all for your advice.

Today I went to Impossible Performance, and Mike has worked wonders on my Octy VRS.

I went for the Impossible remap, as quite rightly celebrated elsewhere in this debate.

Firstly I couldn't believe how friendly and helpful Mike is, secondly I couldn't believe the price, and thirdly I can't believe the performance!!!! The car has turned into a little rocket. It goes to the limiter, it accelerates up a steep hill in 5th gear at 80mph, and I mean accelerates, just a light touch on the accelorator is enough.

The M2 and A299 are the most boring roads in the country, not today on my way home they weren't!!!!! The look on the face of a BMW 318ti driver as I left him standing was priceless. I'm considering getting a sticker put in my rear window, "yes it is a skoda......."!!!!!!

As you can tell I'm one happy camper, and also a fully paid up member of the Impossible Performance club........

Excellent, always good to hear a happy customer of any tuner.

I did say it was good.............................Believe me now????????????????????????????

I did say it was good.............................Believe me now????????????????????????????

is this the 1st remap and tuner you have used?

No............................
