Should be easily fixable though, no damage to the paint.  Just crap timing as it'll have to wait til after new year now to be fixed.

Shocking. Too many people on that small island that people bump into each other.

Oh dear that's bad. So few people care about their car, or the one next to them when in case parks

Ask your self how many times you saw someone at the parking lot scrathing / bumping into someone else while maneuvering... it makes me sick.

Thats why I always park further down the line, where the cars are rare and walk additional 50m instead of jamming in front of the parking lot.

I told an old woman off in Worcester last week for banging her door off a 64 plate Q5. She seemed quite put out that I checked it for damage, as I'd have left a note if there were any marks.

My car is a magnet for white van man. I too try to park as far as possible away from others, but invariably find a white van or a "Chelsea Tractor" so close it makes me wonder how they expect me to get back in my car.

Thinking of printing out some notes saying - Next time can you park a bit bl**dy closer!!

I discovered some b**tard has scuffed my rear bumper, drivers side. Not very happy about it but hopefully it will buff out. ****es me off tho that people clearly touch other peoples cars with theirs and then just b*gger off. No sorry note or anything. Grrrrrrr

OP, that sucks. Looks very much like a position where it would be caused by a back door on a car opening so very likely kids getting out of another car. I despise parents who have no control over their kids.

I do this all the time. Park at the far side of the car park away from other cars as best I can. Top floor of multistories. When I do have to park near someone I'll try to avoid any of the following

  • Ones with any damage
  • Old cars that are awaiting scrapping
  • Vans
  • Car with any signs of kids
  • Cars that are not parked in the space straight (says everything about their quality of driving).

These all seem suitable options (NSFW)

Here,

And here

more here

and finally

I'm thinking of getting a few of these made up to use when I'm out and about

You forgot one more :p

  • Do not park on co-drivers side door.

No point of parking next to Bentley Mulsanne if co-driver has had her tits enlarged :D

It's incredible really. I can park in the farthest part of a huge parking area...and when I come back there's a car so close to mine I'll have to get in from the passenger side. It really seems some people are afraid to park away from other cars.

And don't even get me started on people swinging their doors open...

You know I've never even thought about that. It's a good point very well made

I do wonder whether any of you have been out shopping today, there wasn't a Fn parking space in sight, 15 mins circling just to find a space in those circumstances any space will do.

Sorry your car has been damaged OP but, this is just a sign of the times, others drivers think Oh well, they can afford a nice car, they can afford to repair it.

Not right but, it is what it is.

Nope, I was on the golf course and it was quite empty, as was the car park. SWMBO confirmed the local retail parks were rammed though. I agree with you about the inconciderate sho1tes on society who have no respect for other people's property. Hope the OP can get it fixed without having to lay out too much.

I'm afraid you might be giving them too much credit. From my experience, the people I've caught red handed denting/scratching other peoples cars on a parking lot haven't even noticed they did anything, or think that a ding or a scratch would even need to be repaired.

Feel bad for you mate,a lot of people dont give a rats about anyone, especially with a nice expensive car like yours pal, hope its fixable without paintwork, mine got bumped last week whilst sat in traffic by a newish driver, luckily there wasnt any damage, how she didnt see a bright green car il never know

That's just reminded me, a few years back I saw a chap in a merc try and reverse park but he cocked it up and scraped the rear bumper on a Mini. I followed him round the corner where he parked (in a staff only bay) and wandered off. I took some photos of both cars then left a note on the Mini.

That went all the way to court where he was convicted of failing to stop and failing to report, and had a decent fine plus several points. Interestingly, I've just googled his name and the conviction and found that some search results have been removed following a "right to be forgotten" request.

I've never tested this, but my understanding is that this european "right to be forgotten" law only applies to European flavours of Google etc.  In other words, if you do your search from www.google.com instead of www.google.co.uk you should find the hidden results without difficulty.

Actually, I'd be interested to know if this works.

Nope, couldn't find him that way either. I'm sure if I searched the Dudley Magistrates court records for Mr Caron I'd find something though.

Another fun piece of EU legislation now states that you don't have to stick around or turn yourself in if you happen to damage someones property on a parking lot. A case like this went to court here in Finland a while ago and he supreme court made a ruling that based on EU law it isn't legal to punish the guilty party for fleeing, even though Finnish law would mandate it... Fun huh?

The ruling (originally in Finnish) via Google translate.

Pulled up in the Sainsburys car park earlier; perfectly straight with the nose smack bang in line with the edge of the white line to give plenty of room at the back to open the 20ft long boot (Yeti). Came back after 10 mins, the doughnut to the passenger side had parked so close you couldn't get a fag paper between the 2 cars and eejit behind had parked his f*cking Range Rover right up my 4rse so I couldn't get the boot open - to say I was fuming was an understatement. Some people have got no consideration (or common sense) for others belongings. Get a 'ding' man on it (your local dealer may even use 1), they should lose 99% of it.

Death penalty is too good for people.  If it's not your car, you have no reason for touching it, with your car, your person or your dog.  Cars should be fitted with proximity alarms, and anyone entering 3ft buffer zone should be subject to £200 fine and banned from driving for six months.

Really annoys me how people don't respect other people's motors - just because they drive a ****heap, doesn't mean we all should!

Completely agree re.: the point about hugging up to another car - no matter where I park, I always seem to end up with a Chelsea tractor 3" from my car.  I now cruise car parks to find two newish, expensive-ish cars to park between.... no guarantee they'll be there when you return of course.

"It's happened again, Amelia! I parked the Gallardo a bay away from Toby's 458 and when I got back, someone had parked their Skoda between us. Bl**dy cheek...!"

Didn't catch it on the dash cam?

Friday evening I was waiting for a woman to get in her car (her drivers door was facing mine) so I could get in mine. She swung her door open and it crashed against mine - She literally swung it open and let go. She then said 'oops' and got into her car and drove off whilst I was standing there watching metres from her. No damage thankfully but it was times like that I wish I drove a ****heap so I could just swing my car door full force into hers.
