  • Well I've finally collected my RS3.   So I thought I would share my initial thoughts and photos:-           Two RSs together:-   The car is really easy to drive as I was so nervous d

  • Not sure an M2 is ideal for the commute.  Or loading the family in. Also the 1 series can't have adaptive cruise, so not sure about the 2. Wanted something a bit more sensible as I have a quick week

  • Nah, leave him be, the 7R forums will eat him alive, at least here we know where he is and it beats care in the community

Not sure what the Facelifted  / higher powered A45 AMG will give us.

More than the RS3. It's become their mission statement to be king of the hill it seems. They have an eye on the Golf 400 already too. Possibly a Black serious with more power still

Btw I live for today and tomorrow. M135 today, something faster next? :D

Oft!!

Second hand and probably thrashed from new!! Bargain :D

Pretty much all the demos have significant spec upgrades to tempt you into buying one.

So expect dealers to look for someone with more money than sense who will buy a ragged from cold demo rather than wait for their order to arrive.

I remember joining a Nissan dealership that had already taken half a dozen deposits for the forthcoming 350Z and not only were their £1,000 taken on an unseen and unknown product, but they still had a year to wait before the cars appeared in the flesh. It was quite a gamble really, but nobody was disappointed when they turned up, thankfully. I had to fight off the other salespeople who wanted to 'go and fill up' the cars, ie rag the arse off them and try out a few doughnuts in the compound. I hid the keys for some of the cars it got so bad.

The GT-R was the same, probably worse.

Considering they were well underpriced at £53k in 2009.

Six years later they are still worth around £40k.

For a comparison of how under priced they were, the R34 was more expensive when the limited amount were sold in the the UK 7 years earlier...

Loads of people put deposits down before they knew much about the cars and the dealerships were desperate to drive them.

A lot of people didn't relaise that, on many cars, if you held the trip reset button for a long interval l(or something similar depending on model) they could reset the odometere to zero at any point for the first 100 miles. I was told this was a hangover from cars that were were driven many miles for delivery (USA in particular). It meant a salesperson could rag a car for 30-40 miles by taking a car home and then return the Odo' to zero for the customer, or possibly only a few miles to make it look genuine. I have to say this practice wasn't widespread that I saw and was less prevalent in more exec' marques dealerships.

I still kick myself that I didn't get a 1M, as they held their prices very well for the first few years and I suspect will always have strong residuals

Edit: Just checked pistonheads and I see 4 year old 1Ms going for more than they cost in 2011! Wonder if the M2 will be as good. I would bet there are a few blind deposits down on that one as there will probably be on the Golf 400

So it looks like some wealthy prat may have acquired it today ,as it's now removed from the Audi Used web.

What a wally!!

One left on site and this one has been on for nearly 4 weeks. :http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/a3/2.5-t-fsi-quattro-367ps-s-tronic/worcester/4310189-39979.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

My brother-in-law picked up an ex-demo RS3 from Crewe Audi about a month ago.

Still need to see it in the flesh; will be interesting to see what condition it's in, and what options it has :)

In all fairness, we don't know what deal he made

What's your best guess then???

No idea. I'd have to see the SIV of the vehicle to start with.   Then see how much back end money the demo attracted and factor in how desperate the dealer was to shift it. Also the person who bought the RS might have had a great part ex that could be moved on easily and for a good profit.

Nice complex calc but it was on for the day max, so imo he paid the max asking! £49990. Cash!

But equally a guy might rock up in an RS4 and want to do a deal there and then.

I sold a £62K H2 Hummer without even a test drive. 'Boxing Promoter' turned up in his Bentley said he knew all about them (there was only one in the country at the time and we had it :D) wanted a discount. I said it would be £2.5k more than he thought as he wanted the sunroof version and no discount. He stumped up 10% deposit signed a bit of paper and left. The guy would feel special for 6 months or so as he had a rare vehicle with a lot of presence I reckon

Nice complex calc

Best deals always are ;)

Does it really matter what someone else paid?

First rule of economics; something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay......

Could be worth it to them - get it there and then, no waiting about. It is known that some people work differently to others! Just as well really - the world would be a boring place otherwise.

I must admit if I had pots of money I would have done something similar on several occasion (probably not an Audi though). Any reason that I might be considered a prat would not be connected to my financial status or my automotive habits.  :D

Come to think of it, several years ago I acquired quite a large footwear collection because of impulse buying. I was a well heeled prat you could say............see what I did there?

Still not sure on the wheel design, especially with the silver end spoke 'highlights'.....

This is my brother-in-law's....

it's certainly got some presence to it! bet it sounds great.

They've had a busy few car months, as an SQ5 has just arrived on the drive last week as well!

Funny switchover really - A7 Bi-TDi to RS3. Q3 to SQ5.....

I did a mini me version of that. MB C350 CDi Amg Sport Plus (yah de yah de yah) to an M135I and 3dr dinky petrol Suzy Vitara to a bigger diesel New style Vitara :D
