Audi RS3 2015 -Anticipate some detail on price and spec soon. Delivery due mid 2015

Featured Replies

Just been looking at some new and competitive lease deals for the RS3 -

23+3 x £374.52+vat

36+3 x £359.44+vat

Both 8k per year.

Nearly cheap enough for me to consider :)

The 35+3 deal works out to £455inc vat per month with no deposit (total amount paid / 36). So compare that to the Audi dealer offer -

£6386 down and 36 x £449.

In round numbers that's £6k more expensive. Granted no equity etc... but £6k!!!!!

Problem with the RS3 deals is that you don't get a car worthy of the RS3 badge IMO.  it's missing various bits a top spec Fiesta has that costs less than half.

Hence Audi expects most buyers to add around £6,000 of extra kit.

Make it a nice car with the extra bits worthy of the £40k price tag and your monthly payments jump up a lot.

S3 is similar, gets leather but lacking other stuff.

Which is why VW got the Golf R right.  As least it comes with most of the stuff you really need, or I would get anyway.

Leather isn't important, but other stuff is.

  • Well I've finally collected my RS3.   So I thought I would share my initial thoughts and photos:-           Two RSs together:-   The car is really easy to drive as I was so nervous d

  • Not sure an M2 is ideal for the commute.  Or loading the family in. Also the 1 series can't have adaptive cruise, so not sure about the 2. Wanted something a bit more sensible as I have a quick week

  • Nah, leave him be, the 7R forums will eat him alive, at least here we know where he is and it beats care in the community

Agree with you that the Golf R has great equipment levels at base spec. All I needed on mine was 5 doors and a nice colour :)

Apart from the ACC what do you feel is missing from the RS3? I can forgive a lot for that 5pot engine :)

I'm hearing that a Software fix is in place for the RS3 . I have been asked to re-book my test drive

We've already seen BossFox's totally unbiased review, probably much more unbiased than a certain other person's

To be fair anyone spending that kind of money will rely on their own driving experience and requirements, not anyone else's

Out of interest what does the R get extra? My friend is looking at getting one soon

Edited after looking at S3 specs. Things that were standard on my R but cost options on the S3 -

Active cruise control

Front Assist

Folding and electrically adjustable mirrors

Interior lighting pack

Through loading facility

Privacy rear and side glass

Auto dipping mirror

Rain & light sensor

Hold Assist

Parking sensors - front & rear & display function

It's got a better handling setup aswell :D

Quite a list.

I just don't get Audi giving you leather, but no auto lights, auto wipers, cruise control (not even standard, let alone ACC) etc...

It's like if you are buying on a PCP you have to have a substandard car to get sensible(ish) payments.

Four years ago I bought a Fabia Greenine II for £11k, it had rear parking sensors and cruise control as standard.

Four years on and a "flagship" Audi has them as a cost option? :peek:

I can only assume that Audi is trying to "force" people to upspec the cars to increase profitability.

Which is also very good for residuals, because what they claim you'll retain after 3 years isn't true as it doesn't take into account all the money you spend on options.

Retaining 50% of £40k sounds good, until you spec it up to £46k and the future value is still 50% of £40k.

That's more depreciation in 3 years than a good car bought outright.

Almost enough to buy a Golf R and own the whole thing!

Thanks guys :)

R wasn't out when I got mine plus tbh I like looks better. But that's an individual thing

Weird tho as I have light and rain sensor

Best way to buy an Audi is to get a 3/6 month demo. A lot of the goodies have been ticked and you still get a decent discount off new.

My last S4 was bought 6 months old & had a fair option pack. I wouldn't have personally chose half of them but they came free(ish) :)

Thanks guys :)

do you have auto lights and auto wipers?

Did you spec the car or was it a stock car?

Just interesting to see his comments on the ride.

Paraphrasing his comments - 'Comfort - nice ride, Sport - bearable, Dynamic - Roof lining just about detatching from car!'

This sounds a mile away from your experience. Same setup?

He must have been on far worse roads than I drove.

I know we take Professional Road Testers & Reviewers with a pinch of salt,

but i seem to think of his tests as 'like a real person trying a car out',  & i do not get distracted like when some of his 'female testers' are driving them.

Good, totally unbiased and excellent driver experience review.

Launch Control totally useless to mono foots like me.

I need a hand throttle like on an old Landie, or a piece of broom handle to push down on the foot brake with.

Anyhow you look a right Audi driver sitting at a set of traffic lights

and taking the RPM to 4,000 before the lights change.

Indeed.

Seems like a fair review indeed. Tbh if I wanted a true drivers car in my budget range would not include any vag cars.

Very childish i know but i like at times as someone eyes me at the lights in the next lane & nobody else is behind, is if the car will roll back

i let it, or if not, put it in reverse, and just let it go back just a bit, its quite funny to me at least the amount of times the other driver jumps the lights, stalls, dithers or the likes.

Does anyone know if delivery lead times have increased, as I notice that JoseDB is now quoting October on another website, when I thought he was originally saying July.

I may have got that wrong of course.

Mine slipped back to BW41 (Oct 5), so looking highly unlikely I'll have it for ADI on 17th Oct :(

When did he order? Just interested to know total lead time.

I need a new car July 2016, so a 6 month lead time (maybe longer?) would mean I seriously need to start looking towards end of this year :)

I'm also waiting for my Audi Dealer friend to come back on it, so might have some more accurate fix later. You may have the choice of an  R400 by then (4 or 5 pot -who knows.)

Cool :) will be very interested to have this info.

My options are very much open at this point. There are so many good cars coming onto the scene at the moment, I'm just waiting for a good deal on one of a few cars I've earmarked. Some not so 'hot hatch' aswell :)

My main priority is to order in good time so as not to overrun my current lease too much. However they did say they are usually happy to extend on current terms for a short period.

I suspect for questions like this you are likely to get a better response on an Audi/RS3 forum that a Skoda one.

A lot more people on there will be buying them.

Maybe rather than quoting his post here you could just ask there?

Appreciate your comments Boss but as seen above, a number of Briskoda members are considering the purchase of an RS3,so I thought they may be more up to speed on delivery than me.
