Apology up front if you can't display the RS3 DEMO /USED from the attached.

Currently now increased to 28 cars ranging from £42995 - £49990 http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/used-car-locator/a3/2.5-t-fsi-quattro-s-tronic/cardiff/605245974-1026728.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_

  • Well I've finally collected my RS3.   So I thought I would share my initial thoughts and photos:-           Two RSs together:-   The car is really easy to drive as I was so nervous d

  • Not sure an M2 is ideal for the commute.  Or loading the family in. Also the 1 series can't have adaptive cruise, so not sure about the 2. Wanted something a bit more sensible as I have a quick week

Both of those links work Keith - as they're to individual cars

So the Demonstrators, Media / Press & Management cars are coming up for sale used.

Lets see how much of a demand there is to buy these, and if Audi Dealerships will get near Asking Prices,

or continue with the Audi mantra of, 'we do not need to give any discount',

while then offering a really really good price for your vehicle as a trade in, more than it is worth.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

Never have Glass or Parkers publish residuals percentages that make Audi's look like they are depreciation disasters.

Just noticed that Audi have increased the PCP deposit by nearly £2.5k on their finance offer.

Now £6432 deposit + 36 x £449

Last time I looked it was

£4000 deposit + 36 x £449

Not sure whether they increased the price. GFV or APR? Anyone notice what they were previously?

A guy on VWROC has been quoted the following-

RS3

Sepang Blue met £550

Matt black alloys £495

Comfort and sound pack £1,150

All in £42,190

The GFV's are as follows

3 years £25,500

4 years £23,500

APR 6.2%

Payments roughly

3years £560

4years £470

Deposit £4,000 (minimum typical 10%)

The basic way it is working out is for every £1000 in deposit reduce by £30pm or for every £1000 options add £30pm

All figures are rounded up or down just as a rough estimate for anybody interested.

Not bad figures those. The MGFVs are very strong. If it's 9-10k list more than a golf R then not such good value as a cash buyer but if effectively renting on a PCP it's definitely worth a look :-)

London Money !!

Edited by vrskeith

8.3 Million Population in London and some do not bother to be concerned over asking prices, they buy or lease what they want.

5.3 Million Population or so in Scotland and like wise, some just go to an Audi Dealership and get what they want.

It keeps the world going around, spend if you can afford it, it keeps others in work.

So fag packet maths - Its appears the RS3 has gone up by ~£600 on RRP and the GFV has gone down by £1800. All been whacked on the deposit to keep the monthlies at £449 over 3 years.

In effect a straight ~£2.5k price hike on a new RS3 :(

Looking on the Audi finance calculator it seems the 4-yr MGFV for a base-spec car on 5k/pa is £23698. Which is £4k down and £429/month :-)

Yep, but that's on 5k. Both the examples I have used were 10k. So assume the price hike will follow on lower / higher mileages. :)

Well the RS3 just keeps on getting more expensive!!!

I always use my phone to look at car stuff / post on Brisky.

Just happened to look at the Audi finance offers on my laptop and its gone up another £1000!!!!

On the mobile version of the Audi finance offers, they quote deposit of £6342 and 35 x £449 (APR 6.4%)

On the Desktop version of the same webpage, they quote deposit of £7387 and 35 x £449. (APR 6.8%)

Guess one is either out of date, or there is a glitch in the website.

Bear in mind a couple of months ago it was £4k deposit and 35 x £449, that's quite a hike.

Yep that's the desktop site. Try the mobile site & you get a different (incorrect I think) set of figures :(

Best get a quote from a dealer then, if you are serious about buying :-)

Lovely cars, I quite fancy one but they are abit more than I'd want to pay at the moment tbh

Have been into the dealers earlier today, got a brochure. Had a chat etc.

Next step is getting a drive in one.

Anything over £4k + 35 x £449 is a no go for me though, and that's with ~£2k options!!

I know it sounds a bit unrealistic based on those figures, but I'm optimistic :)

Leasing maybe a better option.

Why not do it as a 4-yr 5k mile PCP? Gets the monthlies down and I'd imagine you'd be unlikely to go the full term before changing anyhow and the mileage limit only matters if you hand it back at the end (again unlikely). Go on, you know you want to! Are they offering a good part-ex deal on your golf R?

You're right, I do want to! However I am also a tight git, so want a really good deal :)

As far as going for a low mileage long PCP, I presume you go into negative equity if you do much higher and hand back early?

e.g. Go for a 4year 5k deal and hand back at 2 years 20k. What would happen?

The 4 year PCP deal Keith, might be a good offer if the Voluntary Termination figure at the 3 year point is similar to the GFV of the 3 year deal. That's how I financed my M135. 4 year deal which has a similar VT payment to the GFV of the 3 year PCP. I am guessing that it will be very similar looking at your final GFVs for the 3&4 year PCP s

It would be a big saving on the monthly payments if that works out and makes the car very affordable.

Not sure how you could VT on the RS3 deal I have looked at?

RRP £40k

£4k Deposit

47 x £429

GFV £23698

On the lowest 4 year 5k deal, the total amount to pay is £47885. So to VT this agreement you would need to pay £23943. Therefore the payments of £4k deposit and £429 / month would only reach the 50% mark at month 46. Hardly worth it, or am I missing something?

I always thought that PCP's worked this way, in that the half way point of the amount owed is always near the end of the agreement so VT's are hardly worth doing.

So I presume the only way to hand back with early in this scenario with excess mileage is to pay the negative equity.

I am currently suffering form excess wine, so my maths wont be too clever, But if I sober up tomorrow , I'll have a go at some of it. It saved me £1,300 quid and is definitely worth pursuing all options to see if a balance can be found that saves you money. The VT point on the 3  year deal must be pretty tight too? It does sound like the GFVs are set very high, but there again with a decent interest rate, it does help to  keep the payments down anyway.

I had a look at the Audi page with a PCP offer and it has related figures. But I can't focus for long enough to make heads or tales of them at the moment :D

You can only hand the car back at either the VT point or at the end of the contract. At any other point you would be trading it in or selling it so would get a value based on its age condition and mileage regardless of what spec PCP you were on. Of course if you go for lower monthlies and rack up a huge mileage the car will be worth less and so you will have less equity (or more negative equity) at that point than if you had been paying a higher monthly. But the point is you still pay for that. Either at the end or as you go along (or upfront with a deposit). The car drops the same value over time from new so it's swings and roundabouts really :-)

I now have a clearer head (at least by my own standards :D) and tried a bit of fiddling about with guestimates and I think you are right. Your example seems to deny the chance of an early VT. Possibly Audi are trying to set the deal up deliberately to cause this? The GFV is certainly set very optimistically imho, I would have put it nearer the £20K point, but it does make for a reasonably priced way to get into a fast car :) I would still definitely say check out the difference between any 3 and 4 year PCP deal though, as if the GFV and Interest rate  isn't too high, the VT point should be a viable option and you might save money using the 4 year deal and possibly opting out at the 3 year point (if you like to change every 3 years).

Interestingly the GFV on the new updated £40.5K  A45 AMG is only £21K and that's on a 3 year deal!! It's also arguable that the A45 is a bit more 'Premium' and could hold it's value a little better.
