Audi RS3 2015 -Anticipate some detail on price and spec soon. Delivery due mid 2015

^the sky high MGFV definitely scuppers any chance of an earlyish VT. Great for lowering the monthlies and abit of a risk for Audi if they have set it too high and people hand them back in droves in 3 or 4 years time leaving Audi to swallow the negative equity :-)

  • Well I've finally collected my RS3.   So I thought I would share my initial thoughts and photos:-           Two RSs together:-   The car is really easy to drive as I was so nervous d

  • Not sure an M2 is ideal for the commute.  Or loading the family in. Also the 1 series can't have adaptive cruise, so not sure about the 2. Wanted something a bit more sensible as I have a quick week

  • Nah, leave him be, the 7R forums will eat him alive, at least here we know where he is and it beats care in the community

If the new Golf 400 and M2 are as good as we all hope, the RS3 might well be in negative equity and it is possible that the AMG will get it's new 2.0 with even more power in the next couple of years too.

I now have a clearer head (at least by my own standards :D) and tried a bit of fiddling about with guestimates and I think you are right. Your example seems to deny the chance of an early VT. Possibly Audi are trying to set the deal up deliberately to cause this? The GFV is certainly set very optimistically imho, I would have put it nearer the £20K point, but it does make for a reasonably priced way to get into a fast car :) I would still definitely say check out the difference between any 3 and 4 year PCP deal though, as if the GFV and Interest rate  isn't too high, the VT point should be a viable option and you might save money using the 4 year deal and possibly opting out at the 3 year point (if you like to change every 3 years).

Interestingly the GFV on the new updated £40.5K  A45 AMG is only £21K and that's on a 3 year deal!! It's also arguable that the A45 is a bit more 'Premium' and could hold it's value a little better.

Thanks for looking anyway :)

I've been looking at the finance calculator again today. It seems that my preferred option 48 x months, 10k miles is cheaper to choose the 48 month deal at 5k miles and pay the excess mileage.

This works out at £4k deposit and £417 per month (+£25 per month excess mileage). Using the 48 month and 10k option it works out at £4k deposit and £460 per month. So £18 per month cheaper, and the option of saving some money if you don't hit the 10k per year. :)

Interesting compared to the lease deal you got on your R

Well I'm just about to push the button on the new Golf R.

After enquiring about the 2 year lease deal I got a few bespoke quotes.

I'm trying to save a few pennies by selling the S4 & releasing the equity in it, as it's all bought & paid for :)

For this reason, the lower the monthly cost, the better. So I'm not adding many options, because -

a) on a lease deal they soon rack up, & I'll never actually own the car.

B) The Golf R is actually a well spec'd car already :)

So down to the nuts & bolts -

The cheapest quote I got was £1471 deposit & 23 months @ £245. 10000 miles, bog standard.

After a few play arounds I finally settled on -

£1589 deposit & 23 months @ £264.

This is for 11000 miles / year, & Lapiz blue metallic paint. 5 door manual.

The lease includes 2 years full maintenance, servicing, RFL, AA breakdown & Unlimited tyres!!

I can't believe how cheap that is for a £30k+ car.

So I've signed the papers & about to pop thrm in the post.

I,ve been told to expect delivery about the end of June, so just a few months to enjoy the S4 a bit longer :)

I smell a new car order in the air! :-)

Is there any discount available at the stealers on these yet?

What sort of deal will you be likely to get on your trade in? Much neg equity in that?

Edit- sorry just seen Keith's post above that your R is on lease. Presumably you can terminate this early, or is it finishing soon?

So is it test drive, then order the plan 999pooch

Deffo a drive in order :)

Will I order? Who knows. I'm usually a very thorough, well organised person who does they're homework. I look at all the options, check all the deals (10 x times over!),.........and then get sucked in with a rush of blood to the head when I get excited after a test drive!!!!!

No need, it finishes next July, so bearing in mind the RS3 has a 6-9 month build ordering one before the end of the year would be perfect :)

Keith I think you need to edit your HUGE post, it's MASSIVE in size :D

Hmmm, in that time there will be the new Golf 400, the M2 and possibly the Uber A45 coming out. Quick, order one now before the choices start to make you wonder :D

999pooch,How many miles have you put on the R since new.

Thanks Keith :D

999pooch,How many miles have you put on the R since new.

Currently at 10700miles after 14 months.

I'm on a 11k per year contract and only hit 9k at 12m so I've got some 'extra' miles to drive this year. I feel a few unnecessary trips coming up :D

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has bought or buying a demo/used ,what deals dealers are prepared to offer now that more available.

What happens will be the usual.

'We can not discount'.

But here is a great deal on your car we are taking from you.

As the cars sit unsold and people like you and me watch them not selling, some go off at very good prices to 'staff',

and then some are no longer on 'How many left', not crashed / written off, but Exported.

It is amazing how manufacturers can have cars 'exported' when they are sitting with their values and residuals looking terrible,

nobody want their next 'Future Classic',  Collectable, or car with a Cult following because they are over priced and over hyped.

'Halo models' and 'Media / Management' cars that have had a thrashing for their first 5,000 miles or so.

In general, not that many staff can afford halo cars, regardless of price. I didn't see it happen with halo when I sold them.

The dealer has to show the car at a realistic price on the paperwork (the SIV) as inflating it on that document will attract more VAT ultimately

I did not say staff, i typed 'staff',  which often can mean not Employees directly.

I was being a bit 'suspicious' of where cars go that are in the Trade , in the DVLA figures, then a quarter or 2 later

are no longer in the total figures.

The story told about the 2015 VW Polo GTI can be how good they are and a 'Technician' is buying one.

They are half the price though.

It is amazing how many very desirable cars with long waiting lists can have a Used Model available,

and nobody wants them, and the Dealers can or will not bring the 'Asking Price' down,

because that devalues the brand.

(Recent example being all those Demonstrator GT86 / BRZ, great reviews, best thing since sliced bread,

but depreciation disasters.  Buy a new one and keep, why pay a Dealer Stupid prices for the one they got

the benefit of for 3 months / 3,000 miles and still have 12 months later.)

Dealers are car sellers, Car Manufacturers are more like magicians with Smoke and Mirrors,

Cars First Registered, and cars 'Sold', and cars sold used is a mystery to behold.

The cars I saw being sold to staff as in 'Dealership staff' were usually the £100 type of trade in as a salesman would often grab it for a snip and make a killing as the car would probably only raise a similar amount at auction but in reality was probably worth a few hundred pounds more. They would most likely have someone who wanted a cheap runabout with a bit of tax and MOT on it.

Once a car is over-age and heads off to the block, there is nearly always a loss involved. But in general if a dealership thinks there might be profit in a car it won't let it go cheap. I bought a car from a dealer I was working at and although I got pretty much the maximum discount, it was no more than an experienced and clever customer could get (I did get a full tank and mats thrown in as I the salesman that processed it gave me them free :)

Dealers get back end money for things like pre-registered, as obviously they have to have demonstrators and showroom cars (that often end up as demonstrators) so it's in the Dealers interest to register as many as it can get away with as it will provide them with a cheap 'as new' car in 3 months time when they can legitimately sell them.

Yes.

Talking 2015 Audi RS3's here at £40,000 or so,  Demonstrators and 'Management Cars', not £100 scrappers.

Maybe there is a UK market for them, we will see.

Most car salesman (and saleswomen of course) would struggle to purchase an 'as new' RS3, even if the deal was superb

I think you are missing the point.

It is not actually selling them.

It is the Audi way.  Do not have loads of expensive used cars not selling putting off Customers of new car purchases.

Get them out of and off the trade.

Do not having them look like sales and depreciation disasters.  BMW do it as well, and Mercedes, VW as well..

Lets see what demand is like on 3 year old BMW m135i when there are lots of them back in at the end of lease.

I am sorry but there are too many double negatives in that for me to get a handle on it :(

I don't really care about the value of the M135 as I have it on a PCP and did the deal working on the theory  there being very equity when it goes back :)

Just getting to the point a VFM car new might not be desirable used at 3 years old, but then you can discount them and they will not sit around at a Main Dealers.

ie a BMW M135i

But with Halo models like a RS3 at under 6 months old that are not even flavour of the month, that is a bit more difficult to get away used at over £40,000 .

They were naff, and they will continue to be naff, hardly a car to aspire to, but that is just IMO.

My local BMW dealer has an M6 in the showroom. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have got it on their own accord as it's been sat there for months. No doubt there is some sort of Manufacturer support for it and BMW want people to see it (it has that weird matt paint on it). If they offer it to me at £30K I'll find the money from somewhere though
