Hoping this is in the right section as I'm as Green as the grass and new here so a big hello to you all. I am after some much needed advice regards my 2011 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI VRS (170).

Basically, I want it remapping but with all the companies out there advertising bigger and better packages, I'm finding it rather difficult to narrow the choices down. I'm in the Cheshire area and thus far have got down to Two companies. They are Superchips and Cheshire Remaps. I've heard Superchips are very good and I'm being quoted £365 (incl VAT) for a remap that will provide me with 202Bhp and 417 Nm.

Interestingly, Cheshire Remaps will provide for £240 (again incl Vat) 200Bhp and 410 Nm. Pretty similar if you ask me but a work colleague of mine advised me to go with Superchips despite the extra cost as "they are more established and well known".

Well, would you tend to agree or am I just best trying any company as I believe (please do correct if I'm mistaken) the batch files used to rewrite my ECU will be similar?

I want an obvious improvement in performance and better MPG but just need pushing in the right direction and more importantly the right company!

One word - SHARK.

Been running a Stage 1 for the last 40k and cannot praise it highly enough. Best money I've spent on any car I've had.

Shark are close to being able to provide a remap using the STS unit for the cr170 so you wouldn't even need to travel-you buy the unit and pay for the remap, plug it in via the odb port, download your standard map, email it to ben and he emails you the stage 1map back for you to upload. There's a video of how to do it and it looks very simple plus you can put it back to standard if others drive your car etc. And can disable your car if you plan to leave it anywhere.

I really like the sound of the STS unit, any idea how long for it to be ready for the CR?

I was quoted £275 incl vat for a stage 1 remap at a local tuning shop, using an "Alientech" remap and claimed around 215bhp, not sure on torque.

Any ideas on the possible gains from a shark remap?
