vRS Estate - Must have options ?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Currently got a BMW E60 and thinking of changing to a vRS Combi, standard spec it looks ok for my requirements, but what would you say are the must have options v nice to have options ?

At present im thinking:-

TDi Manual.

Red Steams,

Multi-function display/on-board computer "Colour"

Temporary space saver spare wheel

vRS leather (contains some artificial leather) Or Electric sunroof (Pano)

Maybe's

Electrically heated, adjustable and folding door mirrors - auto dimming

Cornering front fog lights

Heated washer nozzles, front

I have not seen the standard radio head unit as yet, so need to do some research on this.

Thanks

Xenons? or are these standard now?

A dummy car config states a couple of things i may of over looked -

http://cc-cloud.skoda-auto.com/CarCard/64072567

Camera and/or distance sensor (driver assistance system)

Hill hold control

Lane departure warning
Rest Assist (drowsiness detection)
Tire pressure warning light
Digital radio reception

Do the above all come standard ?

Don't order cornering fogs, ( or high beam assist a £300 option ) they just need turning on with a VCDS

Thanks for that- will keep that in mind. :-)

I'd say winter pack is a must have... The heated screen is a godsend.

I'd say winter pack is a must have... The heated screen is a godsend.

+1 - especially on a TDI as they take forever to warm up.

Same for the heated mirrors, you'd be amazed how often they are frosted over!

How is not anyone naming the addition of the block heater? If you're going to go grand, might as well go full (aftermarket) option!

Have a specialist look at the sound system to tune and/or further improve on it, go full leather on ventilated seats, chiptune... the works!

I have Kessy on mine and it makes it easier getting in when you have arms full of crap - saves having to dance around trying to locate and then remove the key from one of the hundreds of pockets that clothes manufacturers seem to think will be useful - WRONG!! just makes finding things harder.

Extras are totally down to personal preference and needs really imo - I go for the looks .....that's why I have Meteor Grey ;) with Xtremes and sunset.

As to what is useful to most - I would agree, heated screen is worth adding -should really be a standard feature (works as good if not better than my 62 plate Mondeo)

Simply Clever Pack - I LOVE my bin in the door pocket - never had such a clean car lol. Medium size sandwich bag from Asda fits perfectly (other Supermarkets are available)

If you want a review of any particular option let me know (as I have them all!).

Here are my two cents from all the reading and the comments from the dealer while ordering:

Depending on where you live I'd say Xenons (there is a discussion about it here)

TDi Manual. - I chose that but try them out and decide which suits you best.

Multi-function display/on-board computer "Colour" - the multifunction is standard, colour is just fancier
Temporary space saver spare wheel - most would say it's a must have
vRS leather (contains some artificial leather) Or Electric sunroof (Pano) - best go to a dealer and see if you like it, it's down to personal preference

Maybe's
Electrically heated, adjustable and folding door mirrors - auto dimming - absolutely, when you have to reverse and the mirrors are all wet it's a pain
Cornering front fog lights  - as said by other users, you can get it programmed
Heated washer nozzles, front - I never had them and rarely had a problem, but it's quite climate dependent

Camera and/or distance sensor (driver assistance system) large car so front and rear are very useful (standard in Lux) as for the rearview camera, I chose 4 more sensors with the park assist as the camera is not hidden from any dirt (like on VW) so I assumed it would be dirty when I needed it and the sensors also work at night. But I have been proven wrong before.
Hill hold control - you can programme this
Lane departure warning - the Skoda system is not only warning but reactive as well, I found it intrusive on normal roads, but again, try it out.

Rest Assist (drowsiness detection) - IMO useless if you can't tell if you are awake enough, that means you aren't
Tire pressure warning light - standard and an EU requirement since this year (if I remember correctly)

Digital radio reception - can't tell Luxembourg has no DAB...

The auxiliary heater might be useful. I couldn't select that AND the heated windshield so just when with the heater.

Oh and Rick, are you off the land?

You need to look carefully at the brochure, as some things are standard on the Elegance but not on the vRS.

For me the essentials were:

Amundsen sound system (with satnav)

Variable boot floor

Rear parking sensors

Cruise control

Space-saver spare wheel

Not essential but not expensive either so I ticked them:

Chrome roof rails

Red seat piping

Colour Maxidot

Things that were standard which I could have done without:

Lane change indicator (intrusive as someone says above)

Modes (they don't make much difference, and the Sport one I call the Alfa Romeo mode - lots of noise but no performance)

Otherwise everything I needed was standard.  No complaints then, and after 14 months and 23,000 miles still very happy (mine's a petrol manual).

Just the spare wheel, all other features I'd want are standard.

How do you spec the flat wheel , i dont see that as a clear option ??

I'm going for

Spare wheel

Variable boot floor

Black design

Columbus

Heated front seats

heated folding mirrors

Canton

PDC front and rear

paddle shift

ext warranty (planning to keep for 6 years)

We get about don't we lol.

I've just ordered a new VRS. THE Bimmers are nice but more for your buck here, you'd be surprised ;)

I had a few extras but my favourite were Xtremes and then some Eibachs.

Perfect

I assume these pics are with the eibachs fitted? What's the ballpark price for the eibachs fitted (if you don't mind me asking).

Looks the dogs!

Prior to fitting the car ( and like every vRS I have seen) is sadly like a 4x4. How Skoda can release a so called 'sporty' car that has arches petrified of its wheels seems so at odds.
