Just wondered what sort of petrol others feed their octy vRS with. For my part, it's generally Tesco 97 octane :)

Don't get it here - only 97 RON  :thumbdwn:

Mines not a vRS (although basically the same engine) and my answer is none of the above. I use Optimax/Super along with millers which is approx. equivalent to 99ron.

One of the reasons for my asking was after seeing on Scoobynet how paranoid some Subaru owners get about fuel!

Scoobys - being japanese - do not run well on 95 ron. The japanese cannot buy such rubbish fuel even if they wanted too!

We cant get 97ron in our tescos let alone anything higher!

Have to pay extortionate prices from bloody Esso!

Yep, Jap imports are designed to run on 100ron, if not correctly remapped for UK fuel they tend to fall over.

Only Optimax  still 99.9 a litre :finger:

Only optimax for me too.

Anything.Don't worry about price.Optimax or similar if I remember

Sainsburys = BP ;)

Any I can get my hands on, do like morrisons though, since we shop there too, not sure what big make that is?

97 Octane here. I did try using Optimax but the results could be variable - sometimes I seemed to get a 'bad tank'

Sainsbury's Super Unleaded = 94.9 ltr

Mines definately faster on Optimax. Didnt realise how mutch until deciding to go back to 95ron. Never again! IMO it runs smoothest on BP ultimate, but for pure speed and a big midrange its Optimax all the way.

Noticed a difference between 95 and 97Ron , but cant tell the difference between Sainsbury's Super unleaded and Optimax. So with a 8p/litre difference guess which one I use :)

I try to avoid supermarket fuel! as mine seems to drink it far quicker than the branded stuff anyway my local shell is cheaper than the supermarket anyway! :D

Tesco 99 is the best bang per buck. I use it pretty much exlusively, and Jabba confirmed that the octane rating looked about right given that they remapped my vRS to 240BHP with only a boost controller...

always use optimax even at

optimax- but i've found just pick one and stick to it for more consistancy

Over

95ron in my old vRS, remapped. The map was done for 95ron, and after 50k miles she is still running smoothly.

I have the same AUQ engine in my Golf.

I used to use Optimax but for the last couple of months I have been using BP Ultimate, both had Millers Octane+ added.

After my car had been stood for a week or so it felt like it had lost a little power, I put this down to the Optimax going off, it doesnt do that with Ultimate.

hmm. new to sko's..does it really make any difference??? vrs octavia owner
