Thanks Wardy. :)

Popped over to ACT Induction and sorted out all the bits for the build, single carbon plenum, jenvey body, plenum base and manifold ported to 45mm with flared trumpets. Couldn't do the triple or double body system, head went into sensible mode, besides, I blew the budget on an Omex 710 ECU so I can bin the mega****e. Library image below.

Gearboxes like buses, waiting for ages... picked up another gearbox yesterday, been chasing this one for ages relying on someone to contact the owner etc gave up on it, then the owner called me after I'd made the deal for the other one. So gone from getting desperate with one shagged box to three in varying states of condition, with at least one in good working condition.

The plan is to hopefully get a ramp in my mates garage and crack on getting the car sorted. The to do list is as follows

Swap the diffs out.

Pull engine and box and swap box with new reinforced clutch fork

Refit 3.9 lump with new box. The new omex ecu and 4.6 will need a lot of work to prep before it's ready to pop in the car so I'll do that when I've more time.

Remove dash replace blown lambda controller. Check a few things on the megasquirt and have a fiddle to get the cam sensor working. Wire in new dual AFR gauge. Wire in wireless steering wheel setup.

Replace brake master cylinders with new sizes to suite the brakes. If I have time I'll fit the new rear calipers and discs.

swap out rear springs for uprated springs and fit bump stops

Slight coolant leak on engine needs sorting. Alternator bracket and pulley arrangement needs improving and generally trying to get the megasquirt to do its thing a bit better.

Don't want to rush the 4.6 and I'm reliant on others for certain aspects so would rather everything is ready to go in case of any delays as I don't want the car off the road for any length of time, like last year.

Just a few odd things to sort then before the good weather starts...   ;)

:) It shouldn't take too long, the diff, engine and gearbox are easy enough in a couple of days. Then the rest of the time working through the fiddly less straight forward stuff. Though it's best not to set deadlines as that's when it all goes pear shaped. That said the ramp is now booked for 20th February with a 2 week slot to allow for some disasters. :D

Hoping to get a few runs in as well during the fortnight.

Car is now on the ramp in the garage. Had some time to swap the valve gear over for a spare set, as I had a hunch that this may be the cause of the rattly engine and so-so oil pressure. Did one side first and fired it up.. result, oil pressure up to 30psi on idle and 60psi at around 4000rpm. Swapped over the valve gear on the other bank and went to fire up the engine.. and yep, fook all, just churning away. Further investion no spark or fuel, plugged laptop in, no timing advance, crank signal and a few other things missing. Going to grab a new crank sensor and give it a try maybe tomorrow, if that doesn't do the trick then it's probably the ecu.

And it was all going so well lol.

Running again, crank sensor had worn through on the trigger wheel.

Car is stripped and all over the workshop, awaiting a new clutch release bearing then engine with new gearbox can go back in. I'lll fit a lightened flywheel while I'm at it. Rear suspension, drive shafts and suspension is in bits, new diff is in situ but the drive shafts don't fit so rebuilding a spare pair when the lobro joints turn up. Hoping to get it back together for a run out on Sunday lol

Engine with new clutch and flywheel and new gearbox prepared to go back in car tomorrow. Rear end stripped and rebuilt with new LSD (tran x plate diff) rebuilt drive shafts with new lobro joints, gaiters, bolts etc. New suspension bolts fitted also as previous bolts were the wrong size!! A couple of images below.

Glad to see this all going back together again!

Going back together today, engine and box mated and back in the hole, after a few hours messing about with the clutch. All underside connection made, some work tomorrow topside, fingers crossed, running by lunch time..

Car running again sans fan belt, so no driving this weekend. Ordered one for Tuesday fingers crossed. Last major job for now is to sort the rear suspension out. Going for longer shocks to raise the ride height and travel, along with stiffer springs and some polyflex bump stops. When the car currently bottoms out the inside of the tyre hits the inner wing, hopefully the bump stops will help that along with some slightly wider wheel spacers.

Fitted a fan belt today, shoved the gearstick in the hole. Then worked a bit more on the back end..  put some new 14" shocks and 325lb springs on the back along with 20mm wheel spacers. Then took it out in the wet to see what happened. Diff works really well, feels so much more planted, back end so much tighter, wheel spins at will in the wet though manageable. Firm ride with no chance of bottoming out.. Proper job.. lol.

Sounds good

Took the car for a good run today, a few niggles, some sorted.. it doesn't stall when coming to a standstill now.. The diff has a leak which is bad enough to have to remove from the car and sort. Its a specialist job so needs to go to Road and Race to sort. A window of opportunity means I can take it on Thursday and wait while it's being done.

A series of three images taken for the kit car forum's monthly photography competition below. These were taken by Jay from the garage.

Nice one...   It lives!!!

The diff turned out to be a pup, wrong ratio and not a lsd in sight, instead a tightly packed wad of paper rammed into the planetary gears to give the right impression when turning by hand. Shoved a borrowed one in for now until I can work out a plan. Took it for a hoon, the borrowed diff is a bit low geared, which means acceleration is good and I only really need 5th gear. So called tran-x diff below..

Dodgy! :(

Diff is bad news...   Surprised it didn't show up on the run out the other day!

Hope you are having words with wherever it came from....

The suspension has made such a difference it was difficult to tell in such a short run. The seller was as good as gold, full refund and I get to keep the diff. Will probably get it rebuilt with a Quaife ATB at Road and Race.

Thanks for the spin round the block tonight Mike,

No problem Mike, shame it was so slippery. Well done for jumping in the passenger seat in the dark cold and wet. Unfortunately no other willing victims at the Maidstone meet tonight :)

Went out on a lone random blat today, everyone else had planned to go tomorrow in the rain. Ended up doing a fair few miles towards Brighton, car went well with no problems, after putting another radiator cap on it yesterday because the pressure wasn't holding and I was loosing water. A couple of images below, one of James being camera shy and also a link to a bit of a tunnel run at Lewes. Poor quality but you get the drift :)
