Remapped Octy Vs. Standard Scoobie (drag race predictions)

We tried a rolling start afterwards but had no memory card space on the camera - with a 20mph rolling start it is very level.

From a 20 mph onwards I have had a drag race against a standard (none PPP) 2001 WRX Bugeye and to silly speeds it'll didn't pull one ounce. I reckon a remapped Octy vRS from a rolling start would beat it bearing in mind my brothers 172 cup with only a few mods (induction, exhaust and Clio Cup ECU (180 bhp estimated) wiped the floor with one at Elvington (I will post a video tonight) and IIRC that was an STI Catalunya.

IIRC that was an STI Catalunya.

IIRC, the Catalunya was just a standard UK turbo (208bhp) in black paint (with red specks in) with a nice interior. No STi

That explains it, anyway I will post the video tonight - looks like the Scooby gets a poor start however.

A 2001 Bugeye isn't like a rocket, after posting on Scoobynet it became clear it is heavier than most other varients of an Impreza and down on power but I was still impressed I could stay with him.

Yep the bugeye only has around 160bhp/ton and then add in 4X4 transmission losses and the areodynamics of a brick wall you can see why they are not that fast once moving.

Cheers

If you'd read Scoobynet, you'd know the Scooby is king of the twisties :P:rofl:

if you read scoobynet, then you'd know the scooby was king of everything. Well unless he had a fuel surge or knock linkage problem...

It was nice to see the guys on scoobynet saying how well I did. My car was described as "a suprising Skoda"
