Selling dilemma

Featured Replies

I’ll be selling my Fabia vRS soon (new Yeti on the way) but I’m not quite sure how to go about it. It’s a 04 plate with 98k, I’ve owned from new, FSH, generally been brilliant, new alternator in Jan. However, its MOT runs out at the end of the month and it’s due a service at the same time. It also needs new discs and pads on the rear at least and one rear bearing (the other side was done last year). All in all, to get it through the MOT, service etc. is going to be fairly expensive. Is it worth spending all this – then selling privately, or should I just hand it over to We Buy Any Car before the MOT is up?

How about joining Freedom and advertising it on here?

If you set the price fairly, someone might want it as a do-er-upper

+1.

All fairly easy fixes for someone with the inclination and a socket set.

Be honest and price it right and it will go no problem.

Yes, it's about time I joined Freedom! :sun:

Personally if your handy with tools and can do the work yourself then it isn't going to cost loads to do the jobs you mention, mintex rear discs and pads can be had on eBay for around £35 iirc. Then put a years MOT on it which will be more attractive to a buyer and you can command towards the higher end of the price range for the age/mileage yours is if everything else is fairly good condition.

You'll always get good/more money for a well looked after example selling private. What have We Buy Any Car offered out of interest? I can't see it being much as they usually offer trade value and then they have been known to knock you down if they notice there are any issues.

I sold my Fabia, advertised here & on Autotrader......got the 6 week option on Autotrader & sold on week 4/5.........

Hi just out of interest how much were you looking to get for it as it is?

How much tax left.

If it was me id get the brakes done myself plus you save what £80plus on labour for doing it.

Car might only get an advisory for the bearing

So if you have full mot plus 6mnths tax

And cambelt waterpump etc all upto date

No reason why you cant sell it privately for a gd price.

Btw why cant you trade it against your new car?
