most seem too its bloody annoying grrrr

to end it all the clio is a nice ish car its fast handles well decent spec

the fabia is nippy, frugal, not too bad in corners, comfey, nice seating position, bigger, imho looks better, is better put together, the dealers are better, it holds its value much better and its not a renault ;)

i dont hate the thing or do i actually put it down what i do do however is try and take an honest approach to cars.

a virtually track prepped stripped light weight high revving perol car with 180bhp Vs a warm diesel hatch.

and what you consider digs from other members is no different to the classic scoob quote of have em in the twisties' date=' when the fabia vRS came out it wasn't instantly put down but mre the other way round of the fabia drivers claiming to be in the worlds fastest car and putting the octavia down.[/quote']

virtually track prepped stripped light weight

hardly it has cloth seats, no ac and no abs or xenon lights and better suspension geometry

So is a petrol car quicker?

 You're all barmy

No one spots red herrings anymore

Clio 182 IS quicker off the mark than a standard fabia, even in tuned form the 182 has the upper hand.

But I know which one I'd rather have......................and I'm driving it!

End of story :P

your not the only one mike

I'm bored of this now......

Why are saying that a clio 182 is quicker off the mark than a tuned fabia?

Just interested to know your reasons..

Reason would be the one next to me was quicker! 1st and 2nd it killed me, but 3rd I started to gain and 4th I got ahead.

So "off the mark" the clio is better :P

I blame the nut behide the wheel :D

are you allowed to say that on here

i used to just shake my head at these threads but after a while they are funny

Ummm. No' date=' your wrong. The Megane is a pleasant car to drive and the Clio is ok but like driving a tin of beans in comparison. I left my 1 yr old Megane in for some bodywork lately and they loaned me a 6 month old Clio for 3 days. It was absolutely dreadful in comparison. It might be better than a Corsa or Fiesta for example but it sure ain't even in the same ball park as a Megane. No way.

I'm usually no fan of Renault's as i'm sure you have surmised but I am mightily impressed with the current Megane. We've had 3 1.5 Dci's and not a single rattle or fault in any of one of them. If my company wasn't paying for my new car i'd have another one too.[/quote']

Are you sure about the comparison with Corsa and Fiesta? Interior build, particualrly on the Fords is an area where huge improvements have been made over the last few years. The latest Fiestas are pretty good. I ran one for 43,000 miles with no rattles or bits falling off and this would appear to be the norm for the driving school cars.

Relaiability is all about probabilities. Just because a car runs flawlessly for 100,000 miles, it does not make the brand / model reliable. Likewise, if you have endless problems from day one, the brand / model is not unreliable. The only real differences in modern cars is the probability of problems. Check out Which magazines reliability tests to see how various brands compare statistically. From my experience (12 years in automotive Quality Assurance) French cars suffer from a higher probability of going wrong than many others.

One experience of something does not mean that it is always like that.

(trying to steer this away from the xxx vs xxx type thingy)

This is what gets my deep fried goat, someone states something as a concrete fact due to one experience. I'll agree to differ with the 182/vrs thing, based on several encounters that i have had.

Another thing is, if some of you like these little french parts bins, then why don't you buy one and swap your fabia in. They are priced similarly.

mmmm deep fried goat mmmmm

ive never known any other car to cause such trouble as the fabia

i just dont see what all the fuss is about tbh :)

i quite like the conparason threads! listening to other peoples experiences(true) about what they experienced with other cars, should be encouraged. it gives us a greater understanding of our cars. we cant always just go off statistics.

I know what you mean, but to me personally it's not about the fabia, it could be about anything. It's the things people say that wind me up. If poeple stuck to real life facts, rather than what they have heard down the pub or read in a magazine, these threads wouldnt go on and on, and I for one wouldnt feel compelled to put my two penneth in. At least this has stayed civilised and hasnt resorted to name calling yet.

Anyway, mod your Audi, and leave the golf for now....:D

yeah i do know what you mean mate, i get wound up with the whole anti audi thing in the same way, people just seem so effected with tunnel vision

i have a Fabia vRS sitting on the driveway with S3 alloys on(im sure you all know the one) and i think they are good little cars end of. my advice would be they dont have to beat everything under the sun. just enjoy them :)

as for the A4 i think your right, may modding commence

Either do I...............maybe I should have stated that in MY experience the Clio is quick of the mark than the fabia

I did state I blamed the nut behide the wheel

I have numerous video's of my standard vRS against my brothers old Clio 172 it pulls about 9-10 lenghts to 100.

Then I have my Jabba mapped one against his old 172 and it's even.

Then I have my Jabbba mapped one against his modded 172 cup which pulls about 10 lenghts on me.

They are super quick!

Whoa...

You really are not serious now are you?

 Just been and had a read of some of the old "my furby" threads (all locked now  )

Same people taking issue over the same things.

Bloody good read though, keep it up guys :thumbup:

I knew this would happen. I'm sure your are right it was just an example of a comparison. Still friends ?

fabia owners having more fun than octy owners?

puuuuurleeeeease.

the boundaries of reality are being stretched somewhat.

and will people stop going on about the ****ing VVT zone there isnt one !!!!!!! vvt operates at about 1800 rpm and adjusts the timing on the inlet cam only its a very crappy vvt implementation. the "ZONE" you talk about is just the engine coming on cam

strongly disagree. have done many miles in a friends 172 and there is a definite kick around 5k.
