furby, conpaired to a 182

Featured Replies

just had a run in with a clio 182 in my standard furby. still mornin the loss of my dragon box, due to me selling my car. was on a duel carrage way sat at a set of lights, in the right hand lane minding my own buisness ready to turn right at the round about which was about 500 meters down the road. a silver clio pull at the side, i thought nothin of it. the lights changed and i pulled off slowly when suddenly this clio floored it! i was already in second, he caught me a little off gaurd as i origonaly thought it was a little 1.2 or somethin! anyway as soon i i knew he wanted to play i joined in! he gained half a cars lengh on me due to my slow reactions, but that was it! all the way to the roundabout there was nothin in it. i lifted to turn right as he went round the roundabout like a train on rails! they can sure well handle! but i think if i still had my box i would have had the edge in a stright line! any opinions?

i agree, i would have said that but im only stating what happened. he never begain to give it some stick in first, think we both started in second so maybe he was low on revs and they never built up enough before we got to the roundabout?

Im not disputing you.. just saying in my own experience, albeit it was more about v-max than accelleration.. but my car aint standard by a long shot, and i think it may have been a clio182 cup i was up against

it either wasn't a 172/182 or wasn't trying/crap driver

they would kill a standard fabia vRS in a straight line.

in my 4x4 when it was standardd i only just kept up with on upto 30 due to 4x4 but it then just pulled away from me.

My mates got a 182 Cup, and doesnt 'feel' as fast as mine does sat in passenger seat but obviously it is faster. An inaccurate 0-60 in both mine and his proved it. It revs and revs and revs and sounds ace at the same time!! Makes me want a petrol again :(

Did you notice how many bits fell off the Clio when it went round the roundabout?

Having been a passenger in a standard Clio 172 I can tell you it would certainly eat a standard Fabia vRS' for breakfast (and probably a standard Octy vRS  ). When the Fabia is changing up at 4500rpm or so the Clio is only just getting going - at 5000rpm it goes ballistic as the variable valve timing kicks in

:shakecan:

Oh, C'mon no need for gestures. The Megane isn't too badly put together but Renault's generally still leave a lot to be desired on the quality front. Clio's are pretty bad (not sure about the brand new shape) and Laguna's are nothing short of a disgrace for quality.

I don't think Skoda and Renault are anywhere near comparible on quality. Certain models in the Renault range might have the edge over their Skoda rivals on performance but it's only because of the weight saving made through use of doubled sided sticky tape.

But my favourite cheese has to be 'Dubliner' extra mature Irish cheddar. It actually tastes fruity! (and smells quite fruity as well) :)

tbh i couldn't find the smiley i wanted so stuck with that one

Have to say i was in a '55 (old shape) cleo 1.2 last week and it certainly was screwed together well. Have to say a very comfortable car, handles well... guess its down to it been so wide for a little car lol. Only thing i would say is i certainly prefer the fabia's interior over it.... fabia looks and feels much more expensive.... i still maintain fabia is an executive supermini!

Oh and for the record.... 182 would of killed you!

The Clio would win, but they'd be needing lots of road to get past...

erm vvt doesnt kick in at 5k i can tell you

also the 172 isnt that good of a car its ok but its shabby round the edges not a very good gear box and they do fall to bits

OMG is there finally something french that wins and doesnt surrender?!

no no it does surrender usually starts with the odd rattle followed by the center section going then the engine temperature module, then the back box falls off, then the seats rattle, then the clutch goes followed by gearbox

infact no your right it still keeps going its you that gives up and surrenders lol

So is a petrol car quicker?

the 1*2 is faster in almost every way but the fabia is the better car :)

FWIW Blackmagic and I successfuly held off a clio 182 Cup(Lightweight) and in fact gained a 'bit' on it at knockhill last weekend, on the streets i would say there is practically nothing in it.

Now thats with a fabias with circa 190-200hp. IMHO i think in standard form the clio would eat a fabia.

So is a petrol car quicker?

Recall...tractors, trucks, low revs...

You should NOT be asking that, what you got was a killer deal :) Petrol cars rule...

Although the word 'Diesel' is very cool indeed.

Petrol cars rule...

Just wait for the Gallardo V10 TDi - then we'll see
