Will this decat pipe give my Fabia the infamous 'Owl/Pigeon' turbo sound?

Featured Replies

So my buddy's Fabia makes this Owl cooing sound when he drives the car, I think it sounds awesome (I know a lot of you think it sounds stupid!, but each to their own right?), I would just like some confirmation before I buy it whether or not this decat pipe will give me the desired noise I'm after, and will it be OK to fit with the standard exhaust on the back?

Please excuse the noob questions...

As far as I understand it's more to do with the type of air intake and the muffler at the back.

A lot of people just remove the muffler and put a straight through exhaust and a tip this can achieve the cooing noise you speak off

Imo I also like the noise but I'm not sure it's something I'd have it speaks 'chav'

Ok, thanks. Got any straight through pipes you would recommend?; Is that decat I posed above not a straight through?

Yeah I love the noise, you could say it's a bit chavvy but compared to most of the cocks you get with a fat exhaust on the back making nothing but loud exhaust noises, it's not that bad.

Any 2.5" exhaust pipe a scaffolding pipe would do if that's all you had

As for the link I wasn't just if it was a decat and back or just to the muffler

I do agree it's the nearest to turbo chatter that a diesel can get and we all love a bit of turbo chatter

Ok thanks for the help man.

Yes indeedy! Turbo > Exhaust (dependant on car of course).

i think having a hybrid turbo gives you more of the desired noise when coupled with the 2.5" exhaust and decat / mufflerectomy

Apexi dual cone airfilter in a box, pd160 air intake and darkside frontmount and pipes. This gives you a slight flutter noise if you lett off the gas as the turbo spools up and its not to loud as to be anoying.

You also get the tishh noise when you change up.

Why have the "owl" noise when you can get proper turbo chatter

Reviving an old thread.

Any idea what was done to this to achieve the sound?

A GTB2260 turbo,tubular exhaust manifold,performance exhaust and air filter,bigger nozzles and 2.7bar of boost.

I had a sports cat with back box delete and it used to be really loud owling,
