Mug of tea whilst you drive??

Featured Replies

Could not believe my eyes this morning. On the way to work the car in front a Citroen C3 thingy seemed to wander a bit on the road. As we approached a two lane red light I pulled up along side to see a woman drinking a mug of tea. Yes you read it correct. A MUG OF TEA! I sounded my horn and the bloke next to her mouthed "F*** Off" :finger: She just couldnt see what my problem was. Thick or what !!

Unbelievable !!!

Another one eh !!

Was it a normal mug or a lidded one? I've seen plenty of people drinking water from bottles/cans so surely that's just as bad? Normal mug would be barmy to try while driving though.

I've seen women doing their make-up and putting on lipstick and I've even seen a bloke having a shave (not a wet one though thank goodness)

Seen blokes putting ties on, reading maps across the steering wheel.

Hang on - seems like I'm never looking where I'm going - always staring at other people!

derek

Yeah, a travel mug with a proper top and a spout should be OK. :) An actual mug is way O.T.T. (I'd say being on a handheld mobile is safer...) I often drink out of a small water bottle whilst driving, obviously trying to make sure its when stopped or just cruising in a straight line. Oh, and its got a Vittel style cap thingy on top so no top to undo, just grab, open with teeth. :D Often shut it by bashing it on my forehead... must look funny as f*** to someone in front of me in their mirror.

I travel with a tea in my cup holder - not a mug though!

mine was a double size normal mug :o

only don't it once or twice though

If im driving a long way i stick a "platypus" in the seat pocket and run tube under head restraint then clip the tube to my shirt, can drink whilst driving then.

Definetely not worth getting into a potential road rage situation over, being in my line of work has opened my eyes big time into the fact that you just don't know who is behind the wheel

Youre right. I think her name was Hannah Lecter. Or was it some other mug

I've had a cup of tea while driving, eaten, & smoke while driving. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It has never seemed to break my concentration on the road.

But old lady? haha...

You'd never catch me drinking a cup of tea whilst driving.... I only drink coffee. :)

LOL, thought I was the only one

I use on of those 'Camelbak' cycling rucksacks filled with juice/water and put it over the back of the seat when I'm on any epic trips :D

Did use to use a travel mug thing for coffee/tea but I always found it took too long to cool down in there

A woman driver was successfully prosecuted in Chippenham for drinking from a bottle of water whilst driving ...so watch out it's illegal

Didn't someone get done for eating an apple too, IIRC ?

Steve

i use my camel back too,i also have a camping mug for in the vantwo huge cup holders . i can do a quarter pounder with cheese meal quite easily whilst driving( i have to remove the pickle whilst stationary though).only illegal if the cops deem you are not in full control of the vehicle,so a crafty rake of the nasal canal could get you a fine .

I got tail ended on the M62 at Christmas 2002 in the wife's car. Guy in a BMW was having a shave with an electric razor and had not noticed the bottleneck and slowing traffic.

I ended up going to court though and got away (just) with a good brief because I had my twins in the back, they where just coming up to 12 months old and where shook up really badly, I lost the plot, dragged him out of the 3 series and beat the sh%t out of him before the police turned up. A girl in a Corsa and another woman in a Merc spotted him with the razor in his hand and it was still buzzing in the passenger footwell.

Not proud of it, but you do "stuff" on the spur of the moment especially if your kids are involved.

When I was in the states on holiday this year you would see the odd DRIVER with the window down hanging their left leg up on the dash or on the window ledge..... but they are all driving auto's (with no seatbelt etc)

I think we have all done "something" whilst at the weel that we should not have at some point, some perhaps more bizarre or peverse than others :D
