Decided to do a bit more weight saving at the begining of lockdown. Other than going to work i had nothing to do.. so i removed every wire i didnt need from the loom.

Sourced a wider track rear beam, stripped it, fitted poly bushes and painted it.

Seems good, are there differences with Powerflex bushes for what you know?

Half the price lol

theyre exactly the same, made from the same material and fit spot on. Every bush on my transporter has been done and ive done about 65k in 2.5 years.

Designed some camber plates to fit behind the hub on the rear beam. Made two sets, one at 1.4* to make 2* and one at 2.4* to make 3*. Unsure what i want so will stick the 1.4* in and gonfrom there see how it feels

Removed the large spigot from the rear hubs. This it too large to allow 15mm spacers to fit flush, not that ill need spacers with the wider beam but before i fit might as well.

Its from the newer Polo Matt. This beam was actually from a drum braked car, but still has the carrier on it. From a 2012ish Polo.

Started to put the wiring loom back in today. Fuse/relay panel back in, pedals and bulkhead wires connected. Steering rack back in.

Good progress with the loom Phil, I must admit I hate wiring jobs, so fair play to you!

Few issues with wiring. Apparently the fuel pump needs an earth. Luckily the loom from fuel pump to rear of the car isnt taped up yet so easy enough to sort.

Dash are all wired up and engine running. Just need to tidy wiring for gauges and WMI.

Then plumb in T5 heater.
Tried to remove rear beam but couldn’t undo carrier bolts, so sacked that off untill after track day in November.

Just need to cable tie wiring neat, bit its all there now. Heater plumbed in inside and through bulkhead. Just need to split a hose to allow it to flow through heater.

Something fuel related, pump or injectors has gone as when under load just judders. Only code is cyl2 missfire. Something else to look at over winter.
