2009 Superb II factory antenna - might it have DAB wiring?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I'm looking to add an external DAB antenna to my 2009 Superb II (for reasons explained at length here), and was wondering whether the existing factory antenna might have the DAB wiring, but I just need to link it up to the SMB connector?

As described earlier, the DAB unit is a DAB+G from Dension, and I just need to get it connected. I already have a roof-mount DAB aerial from a previous installation, but I'd rather not have two aerials on the roof!

Presumably, if the factory antenna doesn't include DAB wiring, there's a replacement Skoda/VW antenna that does, which I could fit?

Many thanks for any advice :)

I doubt it will be DAB enabled at that age. The part number you will need is 6R0035501D. These can be had on ebay for about 50-60 quid, just search on the part number.

Excellent, thanks :)

Is there anything special about that unit, or would any generic DAB/FM roof-mount aerial do? I found this, for example, which will come in at about £40...

There was no DAB antenna on my 2012 car. I fitted the antenna recommended above and its great. I'm so please I've also fitted one to another car of mine.

Is there a how to change an aerial anywhere

Excellent, thanks :)

There is the issue of different connectors (they look like the ones in the preFL Octavia that were changed to FAKRA when the FL model came out) and the OEM one gets a phantom power feed through the am/fm line I believe. Whether that one does is unclear. Plus as stated by lowedb, the OEM ones work really well and for a saving of just 20 quid I personally wouldn't skimp.
