Has anyone had their DPF removed off their octavia?

I'm thinking if getting it taken out of my 2010 VRS and the software deleted and a remap done, not just for the extra power but mainly because of the fear that the DPF will clog up one day anyway and cause problems, I would just like to know if anyone has had it done and if everything was ok after?

Make sure you get the DPF gutted out and not removed as this will fail an MOT.

Yea the company I spoke to next to my work cuts the end off and pulls the guts out and welds it back up, then deletes the software to say that it's on,I'm just in two minds weather to go for it or not.

I had my previous mazda 3 2.0 diesel done and it really didnt do much for performance even with a custom map.

Isn't the OP's 2010 vRS TDi included in the Skoda recall and hence any re-map applied now will be removed by the Skoda 'update'?

Yea mine is one of them but I wouldn't get it done until after the software update, if I do get it done, I've been told that it will be over 200 bhp and a lot more torque for pulling my caravan

The problem is even though at the moment the MOT won't detect it (I'm sure will in the future)- it is still illegal to drive a car with DPF removed (it's not illegal for the garage to do it) 

 

Also I don't think your insurance company would be impressed when you declare the "modification"

once dpf is gutted your car will smoke alot more especially with a remap, your nice white caravan will get covered in black soot !

Depends who does the gutting and map to turn the sensors off.

 

I had a 07 plate PD Tdi Vrs and after the DPF was gutted and mapped to suit ( no power gains ) it transformed the car and very, very little smoke.

with no power gains i would expect minimal smoke but the dpf is there to stop the crap coming out and be burnt off on a run,when its gutted its basicly a straight through exhaust i was just letting the opo know as he said he tows a caravan.

I have been thinking about doing this because mine stinks at the moment and ran cleaner through and also done a long trip in 5 between 2 and 3k revs to do a self clean.  The smell has gone a little but still noticeable..........

What's the going cost to get it gutted ?

Shark (forum sponsor) used to charge £450 for a DPF gut and stage 0 (no extra power, just DPF sensor delete) map.

Best thing I did getting mine removed and stage 1 remap. Mine started giving a lot of trouble. The car's never ran better since I had it taken out.

( Mines a 56 plate on a PD engine )

The CR170 (engine in the op's car) will smoke more than a pd170 as the pd170 was not designed to work with a dpf where as a cr170 was.

You will get over 200bhp with a remap whether you remove the DPF or leave it in..

The CR170 after a dpf doesnt smoke anywhere near as much as the PD170 does after a DPF delete.. it is a smoother.. cleaner engine without the DPF and/ or EGR

The amount of soot emitted after a DPF delete is affected by several factors.

 

Engine condition is the most relevant, most people remove DPF's because they begin to get troublesome, DPF's can get full if the engine starts to smoke more than normal through wear, incorrect oil or a remap etc.

 

I've seen PD170 engines run clean after a DPF delete but I too would expect the CR170 to run even cleaner as its a more modern engine.

 

People are often tempted to go for a power increase too when having the car mapped for the DPF delete, this is also likely to greatly affect the soot levels.

 

Here is a PD170 vRS with a DPF delete and a stage 1 map with a very dirty (sooty) bum...

 

They stink after the DPF is removed , when you accelerate hard  you leave a puff of black smoke as well :-/

that looks simular to the back end on mine tailpipes always covered in soot i have to use wire wool to clean the tips when washing the car,my bumper and boot stay fairly clean which is good ..  

DPF removal doesnt fail an MOT, mine was removed before I bought my car and ive put it through 3 MOT's since - all in different garages with no problems at all.

 

I am wondering what will happen when my car goes in for recall after January? will Skoda see that the DPF has been romoved? will they care? is it likely to cause me problems?

i also had it done on my last car a mazda 3 tdi made a huge difference got it done at durham re maps dpf gutted egr delete and re map 600 pound.    let me know how u get on i also fancy it also interested in the before and after bhp.

Seems like nobody knows yet.

What about ignoring Skoda invitation? Don't go and no problems
