time for an update as promised ,I replaced the steering angle sensor approx. a week ago and so far it appears to have solved the steering issues ,I will remove it from the rack housing in a couple weeks just to make sure no more water has got in !

thanks to everyone for there advice and feedback

so now onto the next problem ! which I will start a new thread about as its a turbo boost issue
