Fabia VRs head unit upgrade options?

Featured Replies

I am looking to upgrade the standard head unit in my 12 plate Fabia VRs, I have a budget of about £300, what would people think would be the way to go.

If you want to keep it original and have everything work plug and play. Go for the Amundsen.

Depends what you are looking for in the new head unit though.

Ideally I want as much as possible for the money I have available, is the Amundsen the standard upgrade option when the car was new?

I definitely want bluetooth conectivity as well as a decent built in satnav, DAB would be a good bonus, as would being able to put in a memory card loaded up with music that is easy to flip through

The Kenwood dnx521dab or the dnx525dab had both and there awesome

Amundsen is the standard upgrade. Different models have different features.

I would be surprised if you could find either of the kenwoods for £300. Your even scrimping the low end for an Amundsen there

I put the Amundsen RNS315 in mine. Nav and Bluetooth. No dab on mine but think you can get the units with dab. May need Ariel upgrade for this though?

I already have Bluetooth prep from factory so Bluetooth worked from the start. I just had to buy a gps antenna for the nav. Cost me 8 quid off eBay! The unit cost 200 used off eBay also. There are some bargains to be had out there!

Do these head units have satnav and work with the cars climate control?

Depends what units you are wanting to know about. The Amundsen and columbus do and I'm pretty sure the kenwood 525 does as well.

It's tricky, I like to use my phone for blue tooth audio and satnav. It's quite good but I if a Amundsen RNS315 would be better?

If you're going to use the phone for Bluetooth streaming and sat nav, then you'll be best off fitting a standalone Bluetooth kit and forget about the head unit.
