So, restriction in the intake gives better calculation for fuel... We have to add ECU software changes (EGR, boost, revs) and emission will be fixed... but with worst mpg and performance...

Probably better mpg but slower acceleration but less pulling power. Like having the eco setting on with no ability to switch off.

Why does anyone think that full throttle operation has relevance to emissions test performance?

 

The cycles used just don't feature it, as far as I'm aware, or anything close to it.

 

So why would a change to a car to help it pass the emissions tests need to affect full throttle operation?

...then the emission problem will not be fixed...

 

 

Euro 5 is tested at light throttle and low rpm. Why would VAG need to reduce maximum power and torque to pass a test that doesn't measure emissions at these levels?

I don't believe that this simple cheap modification will solve the problem. What was the point to cheat by putting some software and risk a scandal. If that was so simple to sort it then they would do it in first place

Yes, owners with affected engines should be more concerned about performance at lower throttle positions rather than higher. I for one have never used max. throttle. Well except when I was young and silly and thrashed the likes of the original Minis etc! :D

 

Perhaps when VW have obtained the approval of the authorities for the various fixes they will obtain the approval of their customers? You know, the folks who actually own the cars!! :notme:  :D

Will the 140s becomes 110s instead because power WILL be reduced simply because VW haven't mentioned it once.......it's what's NOT said that matters for owners.

Simples.

Do not accept any worse performance or economy from your vehicle than before the VWG have their attempt at resolving what ever issues they have.

On the more recent Scandal and Co2 / MPG EU Testing and Certification and the recent 'Critical List of 2016 Euro 6 Vehicles.

It is being reported on the Co2 Irregularities that Senior Employees of VW knew last year how far out from the Official figures 

the Polo TDI Bluemotion was that they withdrew it from sale.

So much that they had to find out from 'Internal Investigations',  that some at the Top of the Volkswagen Group already were aware of.

the latter observation is very pertinent, especially with the slippery lot we are dealing with.

What does that mean,  it is just Fiction that Seniors in VW knew ?

Stick the Engine in the New 2015 Fabia and have that 1.4TDI on the 'Irregularities' Critical list.

Funny how all talk of the Fabia Greenline has been dropped as well. That was meant to follow, using the same set-up as the Polo Bluemotion.

 

So they didn't want to release another car with unachievable MPG, they were happy with the ones they already had!

 

As a footnote: My Fabia SEL DSG 1.4TDi Estate is over a 2000 mile period averaging 58mpg, 25% short of the 78mpg advertised.   

You can see the future for the clean light diesel, I suspect.

If Averaged means that every Gallon (4.546 litres)  used over 2,000 miles meant that a tankful of say 10 Gallons took you 580 miles that seem pretty damn good. Well IMO.

 

With the Euro 6 3 Cylinder 1.4 TDI being on the VW LIst of 'Irregularity' engines, VW / Skoda should be getting in touch if they have not been already.

You'd think that ^^^^would be more than 6% of VW's development budget.

Of course they have not been in touch......they have ignored the issue completely so far.

I have contacted them, but a week has passed with no call back.

 

They obviously have enough on their plate with the Euro 5 fiasco, but at the same time, they must still be selling Euro 6 cars that they know are affected.

 

It is just one massive ****-up after another.

 

They don't expect to get Euro 5 sorted until about this time next year, so god knows when they will tackle Euro 6.

Trouble is if they continue to sell affected cars, then they will have another years worth of recalls on their hands!

There is nothing to be done with the Euro 6 Engine Vehicles, other than to possibly pay to various Governments the Taxes and Revenues 

under paid so far, and possibly to recompense 'Owners' and those Leasing for Fuel if the Official Figures are far enough off the 

EU Certification.

 

Seeing how many of the Vehicles that are owned by VW Subsidiary Leasing and Financing companies any Buy Backs or Compensation 

will in the main be paid to the Volkswagen Group in the long run,

so where there are private buyers left owning a vehicle that is part of the Irregularities they should pursue VW for losses over the ownership 

and disposal / trade in, if there are financial losses proven.

 

Still hoping in the Long Run that nearly New VW's will be available at 'Much Cheapness' as VW need to offload

many of these Euro 6 Engine vehicles, 'fire sale like'.

Turning these down will have absolutely Zero effect on the measured emissions on the Euro 5 NEDC cycle so VW have absolutely Zero reason to turn down maximum power or torque.

But

The fact that they are 35-40 times over the U.S. test regime once on the road may alter that prior (accommodating) European test cycle surely.

I would imagine the post fix certification test will be a little more rigorous than before if only for authorities to prove they're NOT patsies.

It doesn't say much for euro air quality if it isn't.

A Federal Court judge has given VW au until 17 December to advise exactly what it will and will not admit to in relation to the upcoming class action.

A Swiss group has found a euro 6 Renault Espace 1.6 dCi emitting up to 25 times its test emissions when starting 'their' test with a 'hot' engine.........sound familiar?.

Renault reject the 'claim'.
