It would be nice if this one was concise and had bullet points or something in the first post though :)

I have included everything we now know in the first post.

If people were really smart they'd ban big cities. They're the cause of all these problems.

Focused on a Passat and a Zafira which both failed the test, as in the case of the VW, it could detect when it was being examined and when it wasn't and therefore produced different results. Vauxhall said the testing equipment was dodgy. Make your own mind up.

For those that missed it

I think you might be a little light on detail there.

As I say though, I know very little on the subject but if people wish to give me something to paste up there then I will. I merely created the new topic.

Does anyone remember which engines failed the USA test. A definitive list might be interesting :)

(Nothing actually released other than VW spin, nothing new other than VW and its hope and wishes.)

VW seem to be getting away without too much coverage on anything being said about how they did testing & certification of

many Euro 6 Diesel & Petrol engines, and their Co2 / MPG Figures and what is happening with that now,

people awaiting new vehicles, changes in the VED band etc.

Don't worry. He's here now.

And in the posts above you Happy Clappy.

Anything to add to the thread, or just there at the back looking on and shouting 'fight' fight'?

I was going to start a post about owners seeking compensation ,and the amount £ extra they may have lost since the scandle, appears to be at a guess about £3000 but a topic on this would be more definitive ,but somebody might decide off their own back to merge with another topic without discussion from the original poster and then lose it in the process.

Currywurst apparently :moon:

Do you know anyone that is £3k out of pocket since October?

Do you know anyone that is £3k out of pocket since October?

Until one's car is " treated /corrected "  there is no way of  telling if out of pocket and by how much and for how long. On the original lost thread, someone made a very pertinent  comment re whether   the changes, which apparently will involve changing the injectors  etc at least on the  1.6  engines, will have a 3 year guarantee, assuming of course the changes are effective.

So, with the old topic being deleted by accident and numerous people doing nothing but complain, here it is, a new topic. Start from scratch and go from there. Add what you know and let's return to a peaceful forum again please…

Things we know:

Check your vehicle.

VW: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/dieselinfo

Audi: https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/emissions/check-your-car.html

Seat: http://www.seat.co.uk/owners/diesel-engines/vin-number.html

Isn't it nice that Skoda and Seat owners have to go out and get the VIN number from their cars while VW and Audi owners get a tool to find it from their reg.

In comment  to point 6 above, I don't think it will be up to  VW whether anyone  gets compensation, the Courts will decide, apart from which have   V W not already said they will compensate for any higher taxes payable as the result of their misdemeanors.   The alleged latest comment  by VW suggests they don't know what  they are saying from one day to the next and  I wouldn't take too much notice of this latest one, or the full extent of the cost to them for the various headings  under which they can be  " pursued  "  frightens them. I don't somehow think the Americans  for one will take  much notice of  V W's  comment re no compensation?.

I have a Seat Toledo with the affected 1.6 Tdi engine and it's the uncertainty more than anything that's annoying. I've had trouble free driving for the last 2 years (bought at 1 year old with 2000 miles on the clock for a good price) but the warranty expires at the end of this month.  Seat have been in touch to see if I would like to extend the warranty which I think is a bit rich. Personally I would rather they offered to extend the warranty at least until the fix is applied, I can then decide what to do next, trade in or keep it for another couple of years. Anyone who says resale values will be unaffected by all this is deluded.

I no longer know what, if anything, to believe about what is coming out of VW. A week ago we thought the 1.6 needed new injectors and a larger catalyst and that it would take nearly a near to manufacture the parts. Now in the speech quoted in the Guardian , Muller says it needs a new air filter cartridge and a new grille! By next week maybe the dealer will just have to utter the magic words and wave the wand and it will be fixed with a puff of smoke - well maybe not smoke!

Anyone see the BBC Panorama programme last night?  They showed the cheating in action - quite interesting.

They also tested a Zafira with similarly interesting results.  In my opinion all manufacturers are probably up to to it, unless they have magic diesel engines that work differently to VW ones...
