NOISE IN REAR SUSPENSION

Recommended Posts

However Superbs in Latvia have a special feature - a heated rear window, in order keep our hands warm when we push them to service :D  Simply clever...

Hah, never thought that aspect. Then again, my first Superb arrives in February;-)

Škoda owners meet in service :(the third time I met DeerJohn in less period than a year.crossing fingers, my rear bushes still ok,but dealer can't find why engine's fan spins on highest revs most the time,as result lot of noise and just 80°C cold Oil after ~70 min driving

We have a Seat Leon 1.8TSI 180PS which had the exact same symptoms, very similar engine to your 2.0TSI 220PS and the problem was the electronic thermostat had failed hence the fans defaulted to always on to protect the engine from overheating.

I'm also experiencing rear suspension rattle. Started to happen when temperatures dropped below 0. Only on rear right side at slow speeds. Mine was built in June 2017, DCC, combi diesel.

Symptoms are the same as mine – when temperature is going below 0, I can notice rattle noise in rear suspension and especially on right side. However, that's strange because Skoda had manufactured new wishbome bushes already at the end of April 2016. Tomorrow I am going to service once more time and they will change these bushes for the second time!!!

Luckily you're situated in an area where sub zero temperatures are not very common;-).

And you guys have only a few years to waite until climate change takes care of your problems;-)

Mine is from February 2016 and had that rattling noise in the rear suspension. When switching to winter tires a couple months ago, I asked the dealer, the problem had been identified by Skoda in cars built between August 2015 (beginning of production) an March or April 2016, don't remember exactly, and the cause as well: defective bushes. Replacing them completely changed the car which is now much more silent, maybe not as much as a top Merc or Lexus, but definitely as much as the Mondeo and C5 I have had before or even better.

Finally, after usage for 1 year and 2 months since I bought this “excellent” Skoda Superb “product” while I had to visit my dealer service for more than 15 times!!! and replaced:

-         -  rear suspension wishbone bushes for three times;

-         -  front suspension left track control arm rear bonded rubber bush;

-       -   front suspension both track control arms front bonded rubber bushes;

my Skoda Superb “product” is silent without any rattles even in minus temperature, except gearbox rattle “phenomenon” when driving on coblestone surfaces…

“Very, very” good and excellent job Mr.Skoda…!!!

Sorry Skoda Superb lovers and fans who are enjoying this “product” from the first day of your purchase. My experience is as bad as it is…

This is my first and surely the last purchase of Skoda product in my life.

But now, let’s enjoy our journeys…!:):D

That was the same case for my car and exactly when temperature was below zero Celsius. Two weeks ago dealer service replaced new wishbone bush in rear right side and so far rattle problem is solved.

Driving along today with the temp around 1 degree centigrade I heard a knock from the rear drivers side for the first time, I though I'd run over a stone and flicked it into the wheel arch but don't recall seeing anything on the road.

Reading this thread do you think this is what I had?

My car was built around the start of October 16

Yes, this could be an issue with wishbone hydraulic bushes.

My car is ready, and I will pick it up this afternoon. (I got a Fabia 1,2 TSI to use for free since yesterday. Even though it's a nice car, I really miss my high class New Superb. ;) )

Btw. Here is an explanation from a tecnician at Skoda Stockholm (Sweden) about the issue and how they fix it:

Thank you for this post and to others who reported that UK dealers need to be badgered in order to get this issue looked into. Had the work done in early February and it worked. Noise seems to have stayed away since (220 TSI estate, built Sept 2015, I think -- I got it as an ex-demonstrator in April 2016). Now if only I could get to the bottom of the intermittent B-pillar rattle on some road surfaces and the other annoying door or B-pillar noise (from door seals?) on some surfaces.

Dear All,

I have Skoda Superb Combi 2,0 TSI DSG STYLE no DCC, and i have this problem.

it almost 1 year past and this noise in rear suspension is still there. Now I found this forum.

I linked some of info from this forum to our main Skoda dealer, but they sayed this problem is ONLY for DCC cars.

But real life shows that this problem has not only Dcc cars.

What shloud I do? How i can forse to believe this noise, becuase they allways not hear it..

I send video  from this site and it is hearbale very clear.

Maybe some one allready fixes not DCC this problem?

Thank you in advance form any help

John

I have the same rear suspension noise problem in a brand new 280 L&K Combi with DCC suspension. Noise is some kind of clattering which can be heard easily in slow speed while driving for instance on a cobblestone road or passing through slow speed speed bumpers. Very irritating in Skoda "premium" class car. I have made sure that boot is empty from any goods which could cause this noise. Let's wait dealers opinion.

Its a pity you are having problems. Hope they get resolved. Unfortunately i think skodas build quality is so hit and miss they as a manufacturer are easily surpased now by the likes of Hyundai and Kia. I too purchased a superb as an uprade into their suposed premium segment. What a joke. My sunroof and headlining creaks more than my 12 year old boxster soft top did, the centre console quality is poor this also creaks frequently. Drivers door window makes noises when going down and i have a button fitted inside which controls the most useless feature i have ever used in a car called 'Start Stop'. Its downright dangerous.

Aside from the above the dsg snatches gears and jerks which is worrying as i only stayed with skoda due to dsg transmission which my last one was smooth.

Skoda cannot make repeatable quality.

I made a mistake buying again. No more for me after this one. If this is premuim i will take a Kia or a nissan any day over this.

Good luck.

I am also having the rear suspension rattle phenomenon on my L&K 190 DSG DCC but in addition, the front started to make a creaking sound when going over sleeping policemen and sometimes rattle on uneven surfaces. Took it to the dealership and they discovered that some bushes in the front were cracked (they didn't tell me exactly which ones), got it under warranty but seriously...

I took my Superb into the Stoke on Trent dealership and they told me that Skoda had not published a note  about this problem of clattering from the rear suspension. At first the mechanic said he couldn't hear the noise so i insisted on him coming out with me and I said to him that I couldn't believe that he hadn't heard the clatter, but he said he could hear it then. So they had it for a week and when they handed it back they said they had cured it and I was extremely unhappy and disappointed that it was still there when I drove home. I have had three Skodas but because of the way they have handled this, I will not be buying another. I also have the vibration in the dash when it is cold but I ignore that as it does disappear.

Some companies have a representative who read the forums as it is a cheap feedback from their customers, but Skoda obviously do not consider that important so all I can say is poor show Skoda you have lost another customer.

I was also hearing some noises and "squeeks" in rear suspension when slowly driving through some bumps in 10-20 km/h. Also some rattle from glovebox.

Next regular service interval is in cca. 1 month and will also ask dealer to check these issues.

Superb was made in Feb 2016. It is TSI 280 4x4 L&K with DCC.

It seems that in every country  every SKODA dealer take this problem differently. In Lithuania in one city they allready told me go to the other city :)  I think it was too much questions about this suspension problem to them. So they want to reject me politly.

Still waiting my visit to the other city to another dealer and will see what they plan to do.

I show this forum as sample that this problem is known in many countrys but they did not take it seriuosly.

Sad.

I have a inspection by a independent specialist penned in to diagnose a few issues and have a report written before I approach the dealer..

I don't have knocking suspension but it creaks and groans when going over minor  pot holes and undulating roads.

As usually you take these with caution the lack of wind and tyre noise makes them more noticeable.

They need to look at the loud buzz coming from the DSG

But as mentioned I hope they dont come back with its a 'unfortunate feature of x x x'

I was informed 2018 01 11 by main SKODA dealer, that SKODA factory release OFFICIAL paper on the date 2017 week 31 about noise in the rear suspension. According this reason i was called in to service and they change schock absorbers (again) and some of screws. And the noice DISAPEAR. Now after 1,5 year my SUPERB COMBI have no sound when driving :D it feels new car now. At last!

My skoda superb COMBI DO NOT HAVE DCC it is simple type.

So i recomend to call or visit your local dealers and tell them that there are OFFICIAL paper with rules on the date of 2017 week 31 what they must change at your car if you have the same problem.

And they must change it. I hope this information will help you SKODA friend to neutralize this annoying problem.

Many bets wishes to you all, and let me know about good news after you visit your local dealers :)

Thank you and God bless

Last time I asked about this issue they told me its perfectly normal because its cold and the rubber inside bushings is hard so it makes noises like that. I find that strongly offensive answer towards my IQ.

I heard this since first day I got the car, but it started subtle, like jumping rear compartment so first 8000km I didn't hear it when having music on so just ignored it (all though, I felt it present there in my head). Now its getting noisier and noisier. On some roads its very annoying. so now at 16.000 I mentioned it and the response was above ^^. I did try removing EVERY thing from the boot and my gf rode (safe road, no cars) in the back and she heard its coming from suspension, so i'm sure its probably the same issue.

Having this issue + suspension arm issue (the grinding noise), I feel like having 15 years old car that's about to go to scrape yard. But sadly car is only 7 months old... I am losing patience with the dealership, specially because each time I come with an issue, I wait month or more to get some work done and even then I have issue fixed for barely a week (last time they're supposed to permanently fix arms issue and i had quiet week and that was it)...

As in general I can tell you that I'm disappointed with this  how the suspension works in new Skoda Superb III (Mine in 2016 Skoda superb Combi without DCC)

Even I had this noise problem and Dealer changed rear suspension (Absorbers both sides) still this mashine is not as I was imagine.

My friend has Skoda Superb Combi II 2013 and it this older model Suspension works more quite and more comfortable.

I made a big mistake, I should take test drive for few days for several times and feel how it works before buying..  My old Nissan Almera 2000 hatch back drive more smoother then SKoda super combi III Sadly....

Its obviously not normal that u hear Superb's suspension... Something else is creating noises on your car which are not normal. When I had temporary vehicle I didn't hear any suspension noises or had any issues (Also Superb). It was very very quiet.

I love all about this car, the way it drives, suspension every thing... The only crap part is issues with noises which are not there since day 1. Meaning they can be fixed. If they were fixed this would be definitely my favorite in price range up to 50.000€.
