Anyone used Carwow or similar?

Featured Replies

I used car wow to get an idea what the two cars would be, when I arrived I still negotiated that price down to what I was happy with.

We didn't have a trade in so can't comment on that but still got the dealer contributions and 0%

Its worth using to get a start point then try and get a bit more off

I just got my 5 offers back. Basically I specified the car I already have (bought new on PCP 0% interest, 16 month ago.)

My total payments, if I "buy" my present car at the end of the 3 years, will come to over £19K. The PCP payments, plus my trade in, plus the lump sum at the end, added up to exactly the then list price, so was effectively interest free. But with no discount.

The best offer now on the Carwow, without any finance deal or trade in, is under £17K, or would be a bit over if I took finance.

One of the best Carwow offers actually came from the dealer I bought my car at in 2014, and compared with the interest free PCP plan would have now been £2000 or so less.

Interesting - when the 3 years is actually up, I will look closely at what is on offer - I think I could have done lots  better, even though the PCP was nominally interest free.

Another +1 for CarWow from me, managed to get around 2.5k off my wifes Octavia SE-L last year.

Excellent buying experience from Zsolt at Skoda in Basingstoke.

You could be the first registered owner and the second registered keeper. Who cares? Why would this make any difference?

There's no such thing as registered owner, only registered keeper on the V5.

If you're not the first registered keeper despite it being a new car your insurance won't replace it on a new for old basis if you are unlucky enough to write it off in the first year.

I bought a brand new but pre-reg BMW M135i at a huge discount which was written off 10 months later so I know first hand what a ball ache this is!

Genuine question here - I appreciate what the likes of car wow et al can do but can this still be combined with decent trade in values and dealer and manufacturer promotions? I guess it all comes down to the total cost to change. I've always taken the view that Carwow are best when you have no trade in.

Some will take a trade in, others will not.

You need to ask the question if and when you contact the dealers via Carwow.

Remember the Carwow website doesn't cater for dealer added extras (eg mud flaps etc), and (if memory serves me) some Skoda factory options (eg extended warranty).

So the reply back from the dealer is normally just the start of the negotiating journey.

Will the dealer specified by carwow take in PX any experiences?

Funnily enough I just bought my new C Class via Carwow. Painless buying experience, and the cheapest Carwow dealer just happened to be my local dealer as well!

Like using them (and similar brokers) as you are really dealing with the dealers which takes the risk out of the transaction.

I think I was just unlucky. Just put me off, both brokers and Mercedes-Benz.

Some will some wont, but bearing in mind you're getting a big discount, the trade in price will be low.

Always best to get a few prices for the part ex from car buying sites, we buy any car etc, and work out the cheapest price to change, trading it in or buy the new one and sell the old to we buy any car.

I got a quote last week of 2k off a deal on finance on carwow. When I enquired further he said it was including the 1k dealer contribution in the quote. Felt that was a bit cheeky and confusing, as some of the other offers had less than 1k off, so they weren't including the dealer 1k.

I received a quote today from carwow with a discount of £1169 - including £1000 deposit contribution. Hardly groundbreaking unfortunately.

Wait until all your quotes are in, when I bought mine there were only 2 dealers offering a huge discount, the other 7 hardly discounted at all.

Ordered my VRS TDi DSG Estate from 'New-Car-Deal.co.uk. Saved £6776, the best deal I got by over a grand and 2k less than the best Carwow. And it will be delivered to my door!

Is that purchase or lease?

I thought they only did leases?

I used carwow for the Yeti with no problems, supplied by a dealer I chose who was fairly local to us, handover was very pleasant!

For the superb I used newcardiscount as they were much cheaper than carwow this time round, delivered on a trailer (4 miles on the clock) equally as impressive and hassle free,

which cannot be said about this lot who I bought my MKII Superb from:

Also try Broadspeed.

Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone

We used them for our Octavia. We saved well over 6000 which shames the dealer discounts and as with you completely hassle free, delivered to the door in excellent condition with 5 miles on the clock by a very pleasant chap who did the handover.

Should I assume you get all the full warranty and other new car perks if you buy like this???

Yep, was supplied by a main dealer anyway!

Purchase. With all the extras list was over 35k! Deal I had was £28450 all in including delivery on a transporter to my door. UK dealer supplied, so warranty is as normal 3yr/60k.

Out of interest, I just did the same spec/configuration with 'new car discount' and they are £1200 more expensive than 'new car deal'.

I think it goes up and down between the brokers. Also if buying with finance Apr can be different which could effect things longer term.

Moral is to shop around for the best deal for you out of all the sites people have successfully used :)

Good experience for us. My wife got bored of her CitiGo and wanted a Toyota GT86 - our local dealer wasn't interested in a discussion about price, and we gave CarWow a go.

7 or 8 dealers came in, with an surprising range of prices (£2.5K between best and worst) - in the end we saved £3k+ on list, and the dealer was excellent - once contact was made we worked directly with them to get the deal we wanted; plus £20 Amazon from CarWow at the end for completing the deal was a nice surprise too.

Would certainly do it again, if only to give some ammunition when talking to my local dealer when it comes time to change my Octavia
