Flashing glow plug light, exhaust control system light on

Featured Replies

Hello,

This is my first post on Briskoda although I've used the site to get instructions on fixing the leak in my rear door carriers - very helpful!

I've had a 2005 1.9 TDI Skoda Fabia Elegance since January and it's been great (other than the leak).

Today I've ended up teaching someone to drive in it - to be fair they were very good but as all learners do, they stalled a few times. After one stall, the glow plug light started flashing continuously while the exhaust control system light stayed on. I'm not particularly good with cars but I thought I'd try burning some fuel so I zoomed up and down the A38 for half an hour which didn't do anything... I gave up and did a bit more driving tuition afterwards, in the middle of that the lights turned off for a while, before turning back on again later this evening :(

Can anyone shed any light on what's going on? The car drives completely normally as far as I can tell, everything seems fine except the annoying flashing light! I don't want to take it to the garage if it's going to just resolve itself.

Thanks very much

Check your brake lights.

Brake lights are fine

I'm not sure how you check it on your engine, but could the timing belt have jumped during a stall? Could do with reading fault codes.

Lights spontaneously turned off yesterday... hopefully they'll stay that way!
