What have you upset?

Featured Replies

As the title says what have you upset in your octavia, and your other half doesn't count!!!

Mine, I remember a m3, pulling out from a roundabout right infront of me, using the torque of a mapped vrs, he really struggled to pull away, so much so, I can still remember his face as we drew level.. Classic

Probably my most surprising was what sounded like a petrol Range Rover Sport but I'm pretty sure that was down to the driver. Didn't stop me grinning though

Nothing, but for some reason oikes it corsa seem to give me hassle. Always wanting to "race". Fuel costs far too much to even bother! #tightarse

Ha ha I know that feeling I think they should spend a couple of pounds and buy a car magazine and take note of cars powers!!!

My friend with a Clio Cup 200 is furious he can't beat me in an Octavia vRS TDi....  Probably more to do with torque and hills than out and out and pace, but was very pleasantly surprised!

I think your right about the torque!! Lot of people forget about day to day driving as to traffic lights dashes!!!

The vRS is indeed a good Q car, especially a stage 1 mapped petrol :D Boy racer thinks he`s dealing with a 184bhp diesel but 300 of your finest horsepowers get unleashed to crush his ego lol! :D :D

Mines not mapped tho :(

Golf GTD with my DTUK'd 150 engine!

I passed a Mk2 VRS in the outside lane on the way into a roundabout.

On the way out he/she was not quite fast enough to undercut me and my full car, at the next set of lights I just let the VRS go.

That's something about the vrs, it's impossible to tell a diesel or petrol vrs.

Mapped vrs is the way to go. Mine had so much torque. It made it easier to drive as well. Mine was a manual, before my accident, so it helped not changing all the time.

I Do love the gtd gang!!!

We can't all be perfect :p

It's been a while since I've managed to get in before the lock...

No idea what I've upset, I never see them again......☺

I love leaving the Mercedes a200's in my wake; especially when they've been revving at the lights showing off

Cant you spot fake exhaust?

Could be some other differences as well?

Just like when checking for a ladyboy, always feel under the skirt!............you'll be able to tell is it's the real deal or fake diesel.

If your behind one its easy, just look for the second back box on the right hand side as you look at it hanging underneath, the tdi don't have one, also you'd tell them apart when they open up the throttle as a tsi will destroy a tdi when driven properly!

Haha couldn't be more wrong, I love diesels in fact if it hadn't been for my low mileage and hatred of dpfs then I'd have one no doubt, in fact when I originally walked into Skoda I had diesel in mind until I saw the economy of new petrol engines and the fact they warm up almost instantly, however having owned several high power diesels including bmw 535d Mazda 6 sport 180d etc I must say this... People who own diesels often mention torque and how Easy diesels pull up hills etc however I loved the torque and pulling power of my diesels but petrol engines work in a completely different way eg.. Diesels have massive mid range power (motorway pulling) but if you drop down a gear in a petrol it will out pull it all day long. The problem is in the petrol vs diesel argument the diesel owners think of pulling power 70mph in 6th vs same in petrol and yes the diesel does pull better low down but in the real world if the petrol driver drops to 4th (something the diesel would struggle with) then the petrol man will be waving bye bye! Now I'm a massive fan of diesels but they feel quicker than they are cause of the torque, recently I was travelling up the m6 behind a golf Gtd on a 15 plate when he decided he was Lewis Hamilton and floored it, I stayed behind and when he pulled in I buried the throttle and pulled away quite easily. Diesels for easy driving and petrol for power and fun. Although don't get me wrong my friend has a brand new 435d and that thing absolutely flies but put it against its equivalent petrol the 435i and there's only one winner! Please don't class me as a petrol biased person as I'm opposite I love diesels but there's a reason all top end sports cars are powered by petrol. When I test drive my tsi I had come from 5 diesels back to back and I put my foot down and thought "this is slow" until the salesman said I can tell you got a diesel your gearing up at 3000rpm on a dual carriage way haha! I soon dropped it and give it some beans and it's from 3,000 onwards you know your in a petrol. Either way both vrs cars are fantastic.

The 335d only sacrifices 13hp to the 340i (replacing the 335i) and has a 180Nm torque advantage...I don't think the petrol would get anywhere at all really, even at vmax it would be marginal! In the mid-range the diesel would have the upper hand too.

In fact in this country, you'd have to be a complete idiot to buy a 340i!

The 340i will sprint from 0-200kmph 3 seconds quicker than a 335d in real world terms that is a long way!

I'm not saying by any means that diesels aren't as quick as the same power petrol and bmw/audi sure do know how to make a diesel but as the vrs is concerned the tsi is quite a lot faster than the diesel. Having said that my petrol vrs is no quicker off the line than a 1.0 fiesta as the grip on these things are shocking!
