Windscreen Replacement

Over here we have AutoGlass and I insisted they replace windscreen with an OEM one after a failed chip repair, if you can do the same I’d recommend it and only cost me £10 in total

Everything worked perfectly afterwards, ACC radar is on the bonnet by the way

Advice from the local Skoda dealer is either OEM or aftermarket is okay. Obviously I would like OEM but insurance company only want aftermarket.

Hello George, why did the glass 'repair' guy/gal hit it with the centre punch - did he/she consider the damage beyond repair?

You may need to get the ACC sensor recalibrated at an independent specialist (preferred option) or dealer.

No idea why the centre punch - with the benefit of hindsight, I'd say to justify the replacement (a scam!) The glass repairer advises they do the recalibration, Skoda say they do. Insurance will take the least cost but I won't.

My understanding is that as well as the radar sensor in the front grill, ACC uses a specialist camera fitted to the screen behind the rear-view mirror.

My screen apparently has "rain sensor" is that in the equipment behind the rear view mirror? The wipers work when any rain hits the screen no matter how slight? The car is fitted with the "Tech Pack 206" and "Comfort Pack".

If you have ACC, there should be an optical sensor (for the rain sensor (RHLS)) plus a camera.

I have ACC, rain sensor but no camera

I think the camera does sign reading and lane assist; for the latter, in which case, judging how mine sticks between the lines, the camera might as well not be there...

Correct. I have both

Mine does the lane assist and is very good and sticks between the lines.

I have four the aftermarket replacement is this - https://www.autoglasswarehouse.com.au/skoda~74536454

Funnily enough I was on the motorway last night and was looking at this and realise I had steering wheel vibration on only 😆

Its actually pretty good now....

I have been told by the windscreen installer that the ADAS system should not need to be recalibrated as there is a % tolerance in the system that will make up for any changes caused by a new screen. Fact or fiction?

I'd be more than a little sceptical about that claim, it goes directly against what I have read on other posts on ACC vehicle windscreen replacements.
