So doing my morning breakfast reading and as usual I read the thread of the day. Again an Octy VRS makes it's way to the pages. This one on 130k but sitting at £850! This to me seems too cheap.

Now the octy vrs is without a doubt one of the better cars on the VW platform with the 1.8 20vT engine. So I'm not sure what to make of the price of this one. I remember 150k cars going for nearly 2k a year ago. Surely we've not had the octy mk1 depreciate that much.

I also wonder how many VRS' are still on the road (How many left is useless)? I appear to be the only corrida red in my local area and I see no other octy's on my commute although someone has just bought an early corrdia red at work.

Thoughts ladies and gents?

Very cheap but would be weary of 'Not Mechanically checked or Inspected'. Probably nothing wrong with it, looks clean enough.

Picked my 05 plate vRS up last week for £1k dead - 147k on the clock with history - personally I think they have bottomed out now, and the values may well start to increase, more so for standard ones (like mine :) )

Shed isn't sure about this vRS but many of the Octavias he has driven have had a peculiar quirk in the speedometer design wherein the gaps between the speed increments reduced in size the faster you went. Only Skoda does this. Why? Who knows.

Lifted this from the Pistonheads page. Saab did it as well.

To make you feel like you're accellerating faster at low speed :D

Also the clocks thing not something that is on the mk1.

How many left is pretty good on the mk1 - they were all registered as RS rather than vRS - there's about 3.5k of them around as of end of 2014 but disappearing quickly.

Tried to sell mine a few times but for what its worth i may aswell keep it
