I wonder, because I find, while it's comfy, it's weird sort of perching one's elbow on the edge and reaching down to shift gears.

not got one in my skoda, but i use the one in my renault master crewcab at work all the time. especialy when im power napping.....

I used to use one in my laguna, and the truck come to think of it, all the time, very comfortable; and im a slouch behind the wheel when not nailing it. Big shame the Octy doesnt have it. The VAG after-thought bolt-on arm rest in the VAG cars (obviously) is pretty crap tbh.

Don't have one.... wish i did though for motorways.

If I do use it when driving, I lower it below the horizontal position else it hinders gearchanging.

I use mine all the time.

But then as my Octi is an Auto, interfering with gearchanging isn't really a problem....

imported one from the US for my focus and one of the best mods I ever did. Came with my 4x4 turbo and always use it, only time so far I have foloded it up was in a traffic jam on a steep hill where I had to keep using the handbrake which needs adjusting slightly...

Used to use it all the time in my Primera Gt, never got in the way at all. Unfortuntely

the Skoda doesnt have one :(

I must admit it was awkward at the start but once you get the knack at lifting/releasing handbrake and changing gears I wouldn't be without it.

When people get into drive my car there 1st reaction is to lift it up.

It wasn't mine... My reaction was to put the seat forward.. :D

  Yea the little fella couldn't reach the pedals  Luckily there was height adjustment or he'd need a pillow  .

ive only used mine 3 r 4 times in 1 1/2 years.good for motorway, but my handsfree is in the cigerette lighter and sticks up a bit. also if u have a water bottle in holder it dont go right down. :thumbdwn:

The octy has an armrest. Although the RS does not come standard with the armrest you can easily have the original armrest fitted to it. I got one fitted to my RS, and it's a joy to use.

Use mine all the time, but wife doesn't like it as it gets in her way.

The one in my Audi A3 was more square and more awkward to reach around for the handbrake, but overall, I use it more than I don't, er.. if that makes sense.

Yep - I fitted one to my vRS. Use it all the time!

So we must conclude most people drive with one hand on the wheel !!

Not a problem, just an observation

Actually, with the armrest level, your left arm can rest on it and also reach the steering wheel - it's the right arm that will have a bit more trouble reaching the wheel while also resting on the door.

I've fiddled with my armest and discovered that with it pointing DOWN at the gearshift (and also essentially resting atop the handbrake) it seems to work fairly well. I'll try it for a while and see how it goes...

Haven't got one on my RS and happy with it :) I've hated them on other Octies I've driven as I find they get in the way of gearchanges etc, plus I've never felt the need to rest my arm anywhere but on the steering wheel

The Octy RS (Mk 1) came with the centre armrest as standard kit. Only got 16" alloys as standard though.....:thumbdwn:

not in UK - we missed out on that :-(

My armrest stays in the highest "down" position ie pointing up towards the radio, the gearchange and handbrake is ok but i seem to have developed a camp limp wristed method of changing gears while still using the armrest :gay:

I only use it on long runs. I find it gets in the way when changing gear - as soon as I pull off the motorway it goes back up.

As Denis mentioned. I keep it set below horizontal tilted down which works really good.

Well side on it looks like it. It does go up and down though and has a chamber to keep stuff in.

I got the skoda dealer to fix the armrest which comes standard on th elagance model. He charded me almost 120 pounds for though.
