oil change without filter renewal - does it make sense

Featured Replies

Anything with a DPF has to use VW507 regardless as it's a low ash oil

Change the filter yourself, it literally takes 5 mins to do and creates almost no mess (assuming the filter is at top). Get a 32mm socket bit, mark the filter cover and metal housing to help with torque but you will know when the cover is on and to stop over-tightening. Just remember to lube the rubber gasket that comes with the filter. Done.

Used to change the oil and filter, but recently did a mid variable extract and new oil.

Now the filter is underneath and it goes to the dealer for a variable service, i think changing the oil is better than nothing, removing a lot of acid in the oil, suspended contaminents and putting in new addatives (those in the oil i mean).

Pela removed about 4.2L and the oil was half way up the dipstick, which isnt bad.

The old pd140 had about 0.5L that got trapped in the oil cooler under the filter, but now that's underneath you don't have that problem hower lose the ease of change.
