Octy 3 vRS - DRLs illuminate with unlock?

Featured Replies

Is it possible using VCDS to get the DRLs to illuminate on unlocking the vehicle?

I understand that the coming home/leaving home function works, but this illuminates all lights inc dipped beam, and only works when it is dark.

I'm looking to switch on the DRLs only, every time the car is unlocked, i.e. using the DRLs as leaving home lights in daylight, but maintaining the normal leaving home function in the dark.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I can't see anything obvious in the 73 options for controlling lights on DV52's amazing list (thanks DV52, it's great reading!) that will always turn on a light when the car in unlocked ... unless somebody knows different???

If there is an option in that list, then it would simply be a case of adding it to the control block for each of the DRLs using VCDS or similar.

Simple answer is no, you can change the light level threshold in which the ch/lh work but there are limits.

It really doesn't make that much difference in reality.

You can make just the DRL's come on instead of low beam or any other combination but that's really it.

You could always tape over the light sensor, you would loose the function of the auto lights (I never use them anyways) and this would achieve your goal.

Have you got a link please?

Can Fogs be used in stread of the xenons for the CH/LH lights. I work shifts and arrive home after midnight and the xenons light up half the street as the stupid council turn the street lghts off at Midnight.

I sent a PM to DV52 and he sent me the pdf with all his research about MQB lighting channels.

I've used it to reconfigure the lights on my 2015 Octavia Elegance to how I want them to work.

Yes, using VCDS to change the adaptation channels in the 09 BCM you have to add the CH/LH function to the fogs (and change the dimming value from 0 to 100 so they actually light up), and change the CH/LH function in the Xenons to "not active".

Looks like you fixed it ;)
