Thanks, Dave. Having reread this thread, it seems pretty clear that Paul had purchased a counterfeit Magic Tree air freshener - easily distinguished from the real article by the misspelling of the word freshener as freshner.

Perhaps I should lock this thread now that the mystery is solved?

no not yet we need to discuss my freshners recent revo chip from 1 to stage 2. it now gives out a quicker 0 to smelly time and doesnt suffer flat spots. just wondering what next for it maybe lower the freshner a few mm's too?

I think this thread answers my turbo problems, the long life interval between services has left turgid air in the car (I eat a lot of tofu and beans) and that's clearly hastened the demise of the turbo. Hindsight's a terrible thing!
