You will be doing the wheel centre caps and a genuine airbag cover next 👍

Was it hard to remove the air bag cover?

hi StuH78, thanks for the info and photo, still havent received any reply from skodaparts.com , so looks like i'll have to keep the first lot of badges i ordered lol, or try selling them on ebay, I will go ahead and order a bonnet badge and boot badge from my local skoda main dealer and cross fingers they will fit

I had my badges through via my main dealer yesterday and they are 100% flat. Just waiting for a dry day to stick them on.  Will add a photo of them once back home. £13.21 each

I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself as I don’t know your experience working on cars, lots of mechanics will refuse to do it if you ask at garages as it is seen as a dangerous black art. It is not and it can be done with care.

If you are in the South, I could do it for you. It does involve buying a genuine cover though which is fairly expensive (now people have started replacing them the price has increased by 40 odd euros) and not obtainable through the dealers.

It involves swapping your bag internals into the new cover.

Not a good idea to swap only the badge unless you can get a flat paper like sticker (which will  never look right) as the badge must stay attached during deployment so it doesn’t cut your face, look at how the badge tangs are melted on the inside of the cover to make it part of the cover.

Don’t be tempted to glue a plastic badge over the old one for obvious reasons.

Either get a complete later type  airbag from a breakers or buy a new genuine cover.

My cover is for the four spoke wheel with chrome smile, much happier having the later one.

Then you can change the Columbus start up screen for the later one, but that’s a different story.

My god, that is a lot more work than I thought it would be but bravo to you for doing it! I think I’ll stick with the old communist looking badge on the steering wheel 😁👍

I took some photos of the swap over but hesitant to post as wouldn’t want someone to screw up their bag if they wobble putting it back together.

There is a quick way of getting it off but I don't recommend it and could be very expensive...

nice job, both of you, didn't realise it was possible to do the airbag, knowing my luck it'll go off in my face as i'm doing it....wheels look very smart also Dom1982c, did you have to take each wheel off to get at them?

I bought a set of 5x112 steel rims, took all four wheels off, sanded, filled, sanded again then used self etching primer, colour coat and a 2k clear coat. Sprayed the boot lid, rear bumper and front offside bumper too. Pick the car up cheap and thought I could live with the dents and scuffs.... I couldn’t, OCD 😂

just this minute finished putting on my new badges
