And in with the new (getting there)

Wow! Why the new engine? Is it a simple quest for more power?

Initially a little more power and max reliability and, in the future, even more power.

As a prospective 280 owner, a question if I may? The stock engine has 3 chains by the look of it? What do they all do... one is timing, I assume the one going into the sump is to drive the oil pump, so what does the third one drive? water pump? looks like more than that.

I'm never going to wring 500hp out of mine but this thread is just an awesome example of what you can do if you take the time to do it properly. The TDi bage is just the master stroke :)

Not too sure about the belts I am afraid. I know in general the workings of the engine but not in much detail.

The TDi badge is saving me from hot hatches trying to race me :)

Have you blown the Warranty on the car

Got the same comment in another forum but Skoda does not make a Greenline/Sportline so it would conflict with the new Sportline side-badges :)

it tickles me that to me, a seagull engine is a tiny underpowered outboard motor from the 60's, not this monster!

I think that was probably the joke that the builder was going for :)

Just read this whole thread start to finish , awesome in every respect and a true Q car, when I sold my modified vRS ( not in the same league , as it could get the power down in 1st 3 gears without a LSD ) I was looking at a Skoda replacement that had 4 wheel drive, this is it! even looks oem in engine bay, you see so many cars at shows which have been lowered and look like they will go fast only to find they have a standard TDI engine when you have done the opposite a true stealth car , RESPECT B)

totally agree :) I'm just hanging around hoping I have some money when he wants to sell it ;)

Very difficult to price such a highly modified car, but then why would you want to sell it, owning such a Q-car must be more fun than

an obviously quick car.

A thunk, when the insurers ask "are there any modifications fitted to this car?", it must take a moment or too to answer / explain......

I've had problems with some of the on-line insurers & that's with just a basic re-map!

Unfortunately a slow launch (1.93 compared to the usual 1.7-ish ones) only allowed an 11.5 seconds run (with a very reasonable 122.4 mph trap speed).
A good launch should have allowed around 11.2 but that will have to wait until June at Santa Pod.
