Park Pilot screen

Featured Replies

I have just taken delivery of my 3rd Yeti (1.2Tsi SE Outdoor) and am still getting used to some differences from my previous models.

One thing that is irritating me at the moment is the time it takes for the Park Pilot screen to revert back to Radio when coming out of reverse. On both my previous ones it was almost instant, now it seems to be delayed until a certain forward speed is attained. It is almost as if it is coupled to the auto locking facility.

Any ideas?

I assume yours is the same as mine. The P P screen stays on until a speed of 15 km/hr is reached. This makes some sense if you have front sensors, as often you are in a tight area when moving off. eg; muiti storey car park

Pressing the PP button turns it off instantly, until you next reverse.

Yeah this ^^^^^  ;)

if you want it to revert to the radio without the delay, press the Radio button.

Yes

I do have the front sensors, not had them before. Pity they are only available in reverse as they would be useful when pulling up to another parallel parked car or even the end of a garage.

Just press the sensor button and you can have the sensors active whenever you want.

Pardon, Fred?

Excellent!

I tried that and it worked just as I wanted. I suppose I could have found that in the User Handbook but those things cause my blood pressure to increase too much and my brain to shut down.

Perhaps I should have said "only available when reverse is selected".  I knew what I meant, I just have problems convincing anyone else.  :giggle:

Hopefully my reply to expatman clarifies the matter.

Nowadays I can only cope with changes to what I'm used to one at a time. As I had just successfully hardwired my dashcam I was running on the limit.

For anyone thinking of doing the same using a piggy back fuse note that you have to use the fuse you remove as well as the one provided. Took me an hour and a half to figure that one out!

I appreciate the difficulty, Fred, having a year or two on you, but let's try again:  Why would one need the front sensors while travelling backwards?

Because it shows where anything is near the front that you may turn into.

Not just front and rear but there are at least 4 areas covered on the complete side of the car.

That looks far more comprehensive than what I see on my 2012 model !

Must admit to sometimes just moving into and out of reverse to activate sensors when starting a close manoeuvre  rather than fumbling for the correct button.

And more comprehensive than my 2015 model!

It has 12 rather than 8 sensors and a bit more fancy software I think.

OK -  I understand, thanks.  I guess that the front sensors are always live, then, for nosing into an obstacle?

You get this on the L&K with the self park doings. Haven't been brave enough to try it yet!

All the sensors are only active when reverse has been selected or the sensors button pressed if travelling at below 10 mph.

They can then be switched off by pressing the button or going forward at over 10 mph.

I like to park close to my garage door and with the sensors it's easy to get to within about an inch, forwards or backwards.

^  Rather more advanced than MY13.  Buttons to press, wow :giggle: !

I never had parking sensors until the Yeti and I wanted to ask: is it normal that from time to time they warn about object not being there?Example: I reverse out of a parking spot, safe distance from anything around me and suddenly for a second one of the sensors is red and my heart stops thinking I have hit a pole or worse, a child. A few times it happened even after I finished reversing and put it in the 1st. And it is always one the rear lateral sensors. It happens rarely 1 in 10 times or even less.

I have never had that happen, but if reversing down a slope it will see the bottom of the slope as an obstruction.

Occasionally get it and it seems to be if there is dirt, ice or water on the sender.

I just noticed there's a mute button on my ParkPilot screen , mutes the bleepers  :sun:

I park close to my garage door, for I guess the same reason as you! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

We were given a top spec VW Touran as a hire car recently.

With a bolero and park pilot. The front sensors activated when driving forwards towards, say a wall, even though reverse had not been selected for miles.

Thankful as obviously not used to the car, which incidentally, was very capable and handled surprisingly well on the twisty roads of the Amalfi Coast.

You are very brave! My intention was to hire a car locally in the Amalfi area. On arrival I looked at all the banged-up cars and how the locals seemed to drive by 'feel' and gave up on the idea. I trust you got away with it?
