Front mudflaps.

3 holes per mudflap. I assume 2 of the holes are in same position as fixings for arch liner.

3 rd hole - do I need to drill metal or just drill and screw into the arch liner for it?

Hi

You drill the wheel arch liner, and I am sure it's a plastic rivet that holds the mudflap to the liner.

Hope this helps

Beat me to it i fitted a full set the other week to mine you need to drill a hole in the plastic liner and the flap is held on with a plastic bung think the instructions say 7mm hole but i used a 6mm as someone on here suggests it makes it nice and tight. No need to remove the wheel just get it on full lock to drill the hole.

As above, did mine a couple of weeks back. 6mm drill bit worked a treat, was a bit tight but did push in. Put the steering on full lock and you should have enough room. The other 2 holes are already there as are the bolts. Did rear flaps on mine too and it seems to have made a noticeable difference in keeping the car clean.

Thanks all

Will be going ahead with this.

Only asking about fronts as rears already fitted - as they appear to be on most other than VRS and Scout

did anyone else notice just how flimsy the rear inner arch and bumper are? don't know why but it's a joke! does the job though and keeps the outside of car quite clean..

The Superb is the same on the front. I've not bothered tbh. Feel nice and solid without the extra fixing.

You do drill the arch liner, a plastic rivit is used to hold the flap on to the arch liner. Its an easy job, make sure the mud flap is pushed up properly when you mark the hole.

You will need to take the front wheels off, unless you have a realy fancy right angle drill with a short drill bit and even then its tight. The arch plastic is not thick but the hole needs to be as straight as you can get it as you want the rivit to sit as snug as posible as it will grip better. This is why i went for a drillbit .3mm smaller.

Yes the rear mud guard is a total joke, nearside rear. I riped mine off when the car was a day old, revercing on my drive, no damage done, the screws came through the mudgard!. Its held on the bumper via 2 allen bolts and on the fiber wheal arch liner. Its the total pits.

Also dont be overzealous by jet washing the rear wheel arch liners, they go soft like carpet eventually, i noticed this when i test drove a three year old octavia. I suspect this will make the rear nearside bumper mudflap flex more.

My dealer didn't drill the 3rd hole, over a year on they are still holding on fine.

So not sure its absolutely essential.

Benefit also is if you want to take the flaps off at some point, no holes are left.
