Probably related to battery state of charge (warmer weather easier on the battery). You fixed the alternator signal wires yet?

well in that was there voltage to motors ? Maybe worth checking voltage to battery next cold morning and if that's at 12v then it's check voltage to motors... 

 

Gotta be a power problem if intermittent fault during cold weather?

The OP posted in an alternator-related thread a month or so back saying that they had the same problem with the signal wires and "hadn't got round to fixing yet".

Still not looked at the alternator wires, but yeah probably all related. Just glad these are the only issues for a 12 year old car!
