dash light dimmer

Featured Replies

I need a little help: how can I enable a newly installed dash light dimmer switch? I didn't find any relevant bit or setting at the J519 in VCDS, and the BCM does not handle it just because the hardware is present.
Octavia Mk2 MY2012, BCM: 1K0 937 087 R, switch is E20, new wires marked with *3

Thx

I had no idea any cars didn't get the dash dimmer.

Probably worth posting a full autoscan and also an adaptation map for your BCM.

Thanks. I did not find anything. I think it's an undocumented bit in the coding at the byte 29. Or somewhere else...

I found a percent value for the dash illumination (58d) in the Adv.Measurement. I think this is the fixed
value in the BCM which is valid without the potmeter:

  69.7 %   Instrument Cluster Illum. Term. 58d
  0.0 %   Terminal 58d PWM Range
  0.0 %   Illum. request 58d
  0.0 %   Illum. request 58d TIG

Coding:40000AB8A85BB1B040100080110081E4430000AE524D81605C8440000040

Adaptation values without dumb channels:
Channel        Field 1    Field 2    Field 3
01    5    Key learn (adapt)    5
03    0    OPEN Single Door    0
04    0    Auto Lock /         OFF
05    0    Auto Unlock         OFF
06    1    Comfort    Remote Ctrl.    ON
07    0    Comfort    Conv. Top 0    OFF
10    1    Unlocked Beep        ON
11    1    Locked Beep        ON
12    1    safe Blink        Delay
13    0    Adjustment Alarm horn    0
15    100    Interior Monitor    100.0 %
17    0    Comfort    CLOSE        OFF
18    2    Alarm delay Door Open    Unlock
19    0    Locked Inactive        OFF
22    0    Adapt Value         Erase
25    15    Timer Rear Window Htr.    600
29    0    Status            Erase
31    4    Comfort Blink        4
32    0    Start Function        0

I'd try byte 20, bit 6.

Hm, do you think so? That's was my first tip a few week ago, I tried once and the result was that the interior lamp (reading light) did not turn off.
But I was just hurrying, so maybe I did not notice something or I saw bad. So I am going to try it again.

It's a guess from comparing your lcode to mine. It's a MY12 Octavia with factory fitted dimmer:

 x xx x xx x x x x x <-- differences

Byte 29 is identical but there are a few other differences for you to check out :)

Wow, thank you! :)It simplifies the image.
I think, the only important difference is the light sensor.  I do not know if it means something in a Skoda, but in the Audi A4 the E20 (dimmer) work only if the phototransistor is present in the instrument cluster and/or the rain/light sensor installed. I have to look at my instrument cluster, but I don't know about the phototransistor.
So I have an unnecessary switch. Great. :)
