Looks like you just got your order accepted before the shutters came down.  You've done well with getting it built so fast too!  This last two weeks will really drag .

I know. Spent ages faffing about over which extras to tick I nearly missed the cut... And I’ve been trundling about in hire cars since my Golf GTD lease expired. Currently in a Peugeot 3008. Nice inside but just awful to drive..

Anyone know how long it should be between me signing the paperwork at the Skoda dealer for a new car on a PCH and the order being "accepted" by the factory?

I ordered a 1.5TSI SE Technology Estate at the end of December, expected it to be built around now, just chased up for an update and been told unconfirmed week 22 (end of May). When I questioned the live chat rep, he said the order was accepted by the factory on 5th March, about 10 weeks after I signed the paperwork. Is this normal, or has the dealer forgotten to send the order in at the time....?

I would have thought that either a dealer can place an order or they cannot (e.g. the vRS at present not being available).  If they can place an order I would have thought that it should be accepted within a couple of days, maybe a week at most.  The build week is not locked in until 2 weeks before the build and the week expected can fluctuate wildly within this order to build lock period.  There seems no rhythm nor reason to it, with some getting their cars quickly and others waiting a lot longer for no apparent reason.

If the factory accepted your order on 5th March then it sounds to me like there's a rabbit off.  10 weeks from order to acceptance is in no way normal.  It sounds like your dealer has either sat on your order or forgotten to put it in.

In your shoes I would be asking for  some answers.  Something's not right there!!

Agreed - you may have seen up-thread that I ordered exactly the same car as you - with a few extras - in late January and it had a build week commencing March 5th. My last live chat at the beginning of the week had it still at 'in production' - but at least the order was processed in a timely manner.

Thanks, I thought something seemed a bit wrong.  I told the dealer I needed the new car by the start of May (my current PCH expires then), and they said I'd ordered in plenty of time.  If the build week stays as it is, it looks like it'll be middle or end of June before I get the car. Whether they sat on the order for some sort of sales target, or just simply forgot to submit it, then either way there are questions to be answered. I'll be on the phone to them tomorrow to find out what's gone on.

Update - car is in transit to the port, so I guess I'll have it mid April.

Must have been built the same day as mine..

  • 2 weeks later...

Ordered a 1.0 Petrol SE Tech on 27th of January... so, is the dealer's estimate of mid April wildly optimistic, then? They told me factory orders can be "up to 12 weeks", so I had the impression that 12 weeks was the longest you can generally expect to wait, but some of the stories on here are ridiculous lol.

Not that the dealers have been particularly helpful, had to phone them three times then go in in person when they kept not calling me back just get an estimate that they'd previously promised.

Also, they said I'd get an email when the car has entered production, and it's usually about 5 weeks from there until delivery, but no emails or communication yet... no idea what's going on. Guess if I get to mid-April without any more news, I'll go back in and nag them some more.

Kinda regretting ordering the silver now, the greys and blues look pretty nice lol.

If you've got your order number, go to Skoda Live Chat: they will give you an update in a couple of minutes.

Mine is still at Emden - released for shipping. Spoke to a dealer about selling my current car yesterday, and he reckoned a few weeks to go. There's a backlog in getting cars shifted this end due to last month's weather.

Hi fonduman and welcome to the madhouse .

Yes, the "up to 12 weeks" malarkey is a bribe to get you to place your order .  To be fair, some people have got their cars within this timescale, there's just no way to tell.  A point made a few pages back was that some dealers may sit on orders and put them on the Skoda system to suit their monthly sales targets.  The best bet is to ask for the official order number, either from your dealer or Skoda Chat. At least then you know that the order is actually live on the system!

Unfortunately unhelpful dealers seems to becoming more common.  I don't understand it really!  Your build week is locked down 2 weeks before and normally it's up to 3 weeks to deliver so this will be where the 5 weeks comes from.  Dunno whether your dealer will let you know when this happens or not.  Probably not .

I have to agree with you on the colour.  The Race Blue especially...the best looking and the fastest :D.

Cheers, Peter.

Not what you want to hear, is it?

Yeah, my car has been stuck at Emden since 29th March. Hopefully it will head over soon.

Got a couple of emails about gap insurance and stuff... Is that significant in terms of signalling the car is nearly ready?

At least they definitely have the right email address, was beginning to wonder.

It's signalling that the salesman is concerned about maximising any possible revenue streams for commission!

We have ordered the 1.0 TSI SE Technology at the beginning of December and our delivery date is pretty similar (End of May). I was wondering if certain options make it take longer

I’m at day 177 and my car is sat in Emden, so another few weeks to go yet :(

There seems no way to find out the answer to this question.  I wondered if it was the sunroof with mine.  Other posters have suggested everything from fuel type, gearbox, seat materials etc etc.  We're all just guessing, which helps to pass the time waiting for the car I suppose!

That's outrageous!!  I do hope Skoda are looking after you and offering you some sort of compensation.

Kinda, I have a case handler for my complaint who just tells me the same as the live chat team. They won’t say what compensation they will give me until it arrives at the dealer. Thankfully this is the first time I am leasing, so I have my own car to sell whenever, but I am telling Skoda that I expect them to pick up the extra depreciation. Whether I’ll get anything, who knows. The Skoda dealer I ordered through have been useless and just said that they can’t / won’t do anything and recommended that I take it up with Skoda directly. Not impressed at all.

Eh?  I've read on here about people getting loan cars, tyres and servicing work paid for on their old cars etc.  I would suggest you escalate it to the Executive Office and copy in the new MD.  From what I've read, Skoda really dropped the ball on the pricing of the 245 leases and seem to be keeping customers waiting in the hope they cancel their order.  That couldn't possibly be true, could it ;).

Hearing a lot of this, unfortunately.

Yeah, good idea. I’ll check previous posts for names etc to find out who to move it up to. A job for tomorrow.
