Fabia VRS BLT rough idle

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've had a thorough scan of the forums (the most useful threads coming from briskoda), so I'm aware this is a much discussed topic. But I wanted to summarise what i've found to be the most likely possibilities and gain your thoughts and experiences?

  • Camshaft timing - torsion value adjustment. The car has had a recent cambelt change.
  • Check idle stabilisation via injection quantity.

With the above addressed...

  • EGR delete and ECU remap/re-calibration

Edit: Forgot to mention that the shaking and wobbling at idle is typically worse when the engine is up to temperature.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Update:

The injector quantity and cambelt tension were spot on. rough idle is always worse after a spirited drive.

However, hesitation on light throttle is now getting progressively worse. I've read that it's down to the EGR opening; but i'm concerned that this is something that has gotten worse and may be something else.

I look forward to your thoughts!

If you removed the EGR then have you looked into the ASV assembly?  I always thought that this could cause issues similar to what you are describing?

Mine is exactly the same as yours, Not too severe but its there.  I had a full custom remap etc etc and it did improve by 80 % after fitting the Egr delete kit which leads me to believe its this assembly causing the fault. All thats left is an old anti shudder valve which when you think is 11 years old etc

Thanks for the feedback Graffiti,

The EGR is still on the car. What fault with the ASV would cause this hesitation? What would you be looking to diagnose ?

Thanks,

Dan

It was just process of elimination and this forum.  I would ditch the Egr, you should see an improvement straight away. It's a good place to start anyway as you are working without a fault code yet.

It might be worth removing the rocker cover and inspecting the camshaft and buckets for signs of wear.
