Hi Everyone, newbie here from the depths of North Norfolk. 

 

Posted around a week ago as I was looking to buy a VRS. 

 

I picked it up the next day and have had it for a week now.

 

Its a 2011 VRS Tdi, it has quite a good spec list with xenons, cruise, maxidot, front + rear sensors etc.... I've always had quite low spec cars so this is luxury!

 

I believe a previous owner was on this forum as it had Briskoda number plate surrounds when I looked at it (Now changed by the dealer annoyingly), It has certainly been well looked after in its life.

 

My first question is the radio, it has the Bolero system in it but also has a 6 CD changer in the boot, the Bolero cant see it and I'm guessing that it didn't come with the Bolero as standard in this case? I also don't get any radio info in the Maxi dot display.

 

I'm hoping to have it re coded soon so I can get a large MPH display on the maxi dot as that's something I miss from previous cars but otherwise I am pretty happy  Any advice on interior/exterior mods would be great, I need inspiration.

It should have come with at least the Bolero but don't think the autochanger was ever fitted to the FL versions. 

 

You can check the delivery spec with the codes inside the handbook or spare wheel area. 

Have you tried putting a cd into the cd slot across the top of the Bolero? Boot mounting CD player may be a left over from a previous radio and he put the Bolero back when selling it, forgetting to take out the boot mounted unit.

 

If you don't have a Bolero manual, you will find one in the sticky section above.

The Bolero was standard fitment. It is in my April Mfr 2011 FL vRS.   Never sold with boot mounted CD changer AFAIR. Maybe an early model columbus may have come with a boot mounted changer? Maybe. Is there a sharkfin on the roof. Suspect something else was in there and it has been reverted back to original. 

The Bolero 6 disc changer works very well and is more than enough but I was curious as to the boot changer. It powers up and loads etc. 

 

The aerial is a shark fin so maybe it originally had a Columbus? 

 

I have a piece piece of paper with the radio code and also a printed bolero manual so that might explain it. 

 

Tried the codes in the boot on the decoder but struggled with Os and 0s so a lot of them came out wrong I think. 

 

 

I would also say that the bolero was fitted so the columbus could be removed.

I might have to get a Columbus back in there at some point then!

Not too far away then, I often spend weekends in Mundesley, I'll have to keep an eye out for your car. 

 

Think I've solved the boot cd changer today, took the bolero out and there's a GPS antenna plug sitting behind it, that and I checked the options codes out and it says "Navigation" . I guess it came with a Columbus unit originally, annoying as I like everything to be standard...I'll have to start saving.
