2003 Fabia VRS, £1300

Featured Replies

For sale is my Fabia VRS, bought 3 years ago from a forum member (see link below) and now at 111k.   Car is in Central Southampton.

Need a larger car now, but it's served us very well indeed: no major issues, reliable, frugal, and fun to drive.  This will be an excellent cheap runaround for someone who isn't concerned with a cosmetically perfect car - it eats up motorway miles and is enjoyable on B roads.  I'd love to keep it as a 2nd car for the rest of its life, but can't really justify running 2 cars.

The sills had some cosmetic rust issues when I bought the car, and these were sorted with a full respray on both sills 3 years ago, all the way down, with raised stone-chip protection.

There are a few niggles with the car, which I have detailed in their entirety below.  Nothing particularly major, but along with the short MOT (mid October) reflects the price.

List of details on condition of the car:

Car has full service history, some of it by local (but decent) non-Skoda garage.
There is no accident damage, no significant dents or scratches to the best of my detection!
The car drives smoothly and pulls well, there is no smoke on start-up/running.  The car has had no major issues in the 3 years I have owned it.
Car has an upgraded stereo with DAB radio (see above listing for details)

Known issues:

Cosmetic:

Drivers seat cover worn through on side support
Some minor bubbling of paint on a couple of wheel arches, and joint between arch panels and sills.
Some slight scuffing of a couple of the alloys
A few very small stone chips on bonnet.
There is a small stone chip on the windscreen which has been there virtually 3 years without issue.
Seats are a bit discoloured on the white sections (unfortunately a very common issue with this seat colour...).

Mechanical:

Front disks are probably a bit worn, as there is a slight vibration under heavy braking
There is a slight whine from gearbox under engine braking in 5th, however this was there when I bought it, and has remained unchanged for the 3 years and ~40k I have put on the car.  Opinion of others on this forum is that it's probably nothing to worry about.
One of the CVT joints probably a little worn, as there is occasionally some knocking under engine braking in 2nd.  Car had this issue soon after purchase, and was resolved with CVT change at MOT.
The clutch on the air con pump pulley has failed, so the pump receiving no drive and air con is currently not working.  This will need replacing to get the air con working.
The passenger side front window electric mechanism is not working (cable broken).  The window has been secured in the up position via a removable wire within the door trim.
