Fitting electric side mirrors on Fabia 2

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I'm new here so it's nice to be part of the community :)

I have a Skoda Fabia 2 (2007) with manual side mirrors, has anyone tried to change them with electrical ones? Any tutorials?

Any help is appreciated :)

Although its most likely possible, it might be quite difficult. The mirrors will be wired up to things such as the convenience module or similar. They will also have wiring for the heating elements that I guess you don't have (Not sure though). The electric mirrors are only live with the electrics turned on and I think use can bus wiring so unless you completely wire them from scratch, finding a live feed or purchase the necessary wiring loom from a dealer/scrapyard that may plug in to said modules if the sockets exist. You will then need the mirrors themselves as they will have motors in them rather then what you have in yours. Of course, you may just find the manufacturer has wiring there already due to mass production and just keep it to one side when not needed. This is not unusual and it is often there for certain optional extras should they be needed but as Skoda usually build from scratch to order, they may just have omitted it too, to save money! If the wiring WAS there, it should be a simple as removing your parts, fitting the new ones and perhaps adding a fuse if they are not already "Live". You will almost certainly need new interior trim parts too as the manual mirrors will have a wobbly joy stick where electric ones have a blank cover. You will also have to purchase, wire up and fit the actual mirror switch. Again, the wiring could be there but I doubt it. The switch sits o the drivers door, where I think you will have what looks like a small speaker. That will be a cover that comes off to fit the switch, which needs the door card removed in order to do but you will most likely need to do that anyway to search/ wire up any work you do.

My guess is your vehicle is a fairly low spec version so mirrors will probably be low down on the list of things to modify.

As I said, probably do-able but worth it? Only you can decide!

thanks mrgf, I also talked with someone from Skoda dealership and it is better (and cheaper) to sell it and buy one with more extras.
